My DD is almost 21 months and has been walking since 17 months. We always had her in soft soled shoes but now that she is walking we bought her Stride Rite (stage 2) shoes for when she is outside and when we are out and about. My question: Are soft soled shoes still recommended for a walking 21 month old for around the house? With fall/winter just around the corner, I'm looking to get her 'slippers' for around the house, since she won't keep clothes on let alone socks and I'm not sure what to look for.

Thanks for any advice!

Absolutely- soft is best for everyone. Stride rites are VERY stiff. I won't by them for my 3 year old for that reason. I would not put a toddler who had just been walking for less than 6 in them at all.
