So last night my kissaluvs bounty arrived via fluffy mail- 6 for $20! an e-bay miracle!

but when I pulled them out of their packaging they mostly felt rough and uncomfortable.

how can I make these great, absorbant looking things soft again?

please tell me it's possible!

Yeah, that. But if they are just rough from hard water, you may need to soak them in HOT water and something to remove the build up. RLR Laundry Treatment or Shout Oxy Power would be my choices. Calgon water softener would also be good for stripping detergent residues out of the diapers, which may be the reason they are rough. I'm not sure how well it removes hard water deposits, though. Anyone know?

are they a bit dingy colored too? this happened with my kissaluvs, and i stripped them in a bit of sportwash and rinse rinse rinse, then hung to dry, and fluffed in the dryer, and they were right back to normal!
i got tons of suds, they really needed to be stripped!
good luck!
that is a great price for KL's.

To be *really* stupid for a minute- to strip them, I can either soak them in calgon or in sportwash (I'm assuming I should really use a small amount) and HOT water, then put them in the washer with no detergent or anything? or put them straight in the washer on hot with a small amount of calgon or sportwash?

I think all my diapers could benefit from a little stripping, seems like they're starting to gather smells

and then fluff in the dryer

I can't wait till laundry no longer costs $3 a load & I have a laundry room with a big sink for soaking.

I would recommend using quite a lot of Calgon. At least what the package recommends, if not a little more. Use it with as hot of water as you can get (though not boiling since snaps can't handle that). While doing this, do not add any soap. Watch the wash after it has agitated for a few minutes. If there are suds or really gunky, icky water, do this over and over until there are none. Be sure to run some rinses with no Calgon at all afterward to make sure there's no Calgon left in the dipes to irritate your baby.

I don't think Sportwash has anything in there that actually removes buildup...it just is an alternative cleaning method that is supposed to not add buildup. But if you do the Calgon and don't see anything going on, it's worth a shot.

Hope that helps!
