I think I really want to get a Solarveil sling. I like the one from HotSlings, but I think I like a tail for extra coverage if I need it. So that leaves TaylorMade or Kangaroo Korner, unless there are others I haven't found. I prefer the look of TaylorMade, because it looks like there's less material to mess with, but it's got metal rings. Kangaroo Korner has nylon rings, but it looks bulky. Any thoughts on the metal ring thing or bulk of these 2 slings?

Thanks!

With the rings, I prefer the nylon ones in the summer. If you leave your sling in the car for some reason, you have to wait a bit for the metal rings to cool
But I don't have any experience with KK or taylormade about the bulk of the slings, sorry!

I have the KK so can't comment on the Taylor Made but the nylon rings don't get hot at all. My solarveil sling is my car sling, in other words I always leave it in the car. I haven't had a problem with hot rings.

I have the KK Solarveil and I love it! It's actually been my sling of choice for the last week or so. I don't have another solarveil to compare it to, but I love the nylon rings...it doesn't seem that bulky to me.

I wanted to add my vote for the KK SV sling. I don't have a TM one, but the KK is not at all bulky and she uses small rings and there is no slippage at all. I also have one from Jen at http://www.tentoes.com and it's great too! It has a different shoulder design than the KK. It was passed all around the pool at playgroup last week. Everyone was ver impressed...

I don't have a solarveil, but just from my perspective as a seamstress who makes my own slings, I can't figure out why anyone would use metal rings on such a lightweight fabric?? I tried metal on a very lightweight sling once, and the rings were so heavy that the sling kept slipping down (not slipping as in getting looser, but the rings wouldn't stay up by my shoulder, IYKWIM...). I was forever adjusting....I redid it with nylon rings, quick!

Also, the fact that lightweight slings, such as Solarveil and mesh, etc., are in general intended for warm weather/warm climates....which means less clothing....I dunno, but the idea of metal rings in a halter top just sounds masochistic to me--even if you don't leave it in the car!!

I should have done a better job of thinking through the metal ring on summer fabric thing. I JUST got some nursing tanks today, too, and it never occurred to me that I'd have metal rings against my skin. (And of course, I ordered the TaylorMade Solarveil sling yesterday
: ) Ah, well, I'm the queen of returns. Think I'd better return to the search and do a better job of checking out KK and Chicslings.

On the up side, I also ordered an Ellaroo wrap and a Hug-a-Bub, so I hope I fall in
with those.

I love
my KK solarveil slings. One of the reasons why I ordered theirs was because of the nylon rings. Have used it in the shower and this week for the first time at the pool. It is wonderful!

Warmly~

my sling from http://www.sleepingbaby.net/website.html I ordered the navy one w/ navy nylon rings and it's fantastic. The shoulder spreads out w/o having to be fanned each time you put it on. It's also 2 layers of solarveil, which is more UV protection, but still cool enough to wear when it's 107 in Phoenix!! My 17 lb 3 month old fits very comfortably. It's also only $30!

I have a cotton Taylormade Treasures, which is nice, but the shoulder has to be fanned out each time I put it on. The sleepingbaby sling is much easier to put on one handed while holding a baby. For easier wear, I'll stick w/ Jan's slings.
