I am currently working on a project to solicit contributions from the local produce sheds for our region's Food Not Bombs! I am so excited about this!

My DH (who is deceased) used to work in the produce industry for over a decade in sales. He knew everyone in town. would it be bad to bring up his name when soliciting donations? I actually think it will be helpful as he knew everyone in town, but am just not sure?

also do you think it would be better to call or send mass email? (there are literally 100's of produce sheds)

just wondering what the best way to go about this will be.
there is no shortage of useable produce that gets thrown out (I've seen it first hand in the landfill) any leftovers will be sent to the soup kitchen too. I am really excited about this but don't want to mess up in soliciting donations!

advice?
