I FINALLY got a diaper I ordered 2 weeks ago(she said she would ship it last week but didnt ship it until this monday)

IT SMELLS LIKE SMOKE, it is HORRIBLE, I HATE the smell of smoke OH MY GOD what do I do, I dont know how to wash smoke out of clothes or diapers. IT IS HORRIBLE, I am so not ever buying from this WAHM again, she NEVER said anywhere on her site that she smokes.

I should mention that the "smoke diaper" wasnt the only package of diapers I got, I also got a package of fitteds and fuzzi bunz and they didnt smell like smoke, so I think it HAS to be the WAHM or her post office.

found the problem, it was her grill they had been grilling outside with their windows and doors open all week.

Don't panic - it should just wash out in the regular wash (from the amount of time I've spent in smokey bars in my youth, I should know!).

What a bummer, though. It sort of destroys the sacredness of the new dipe, doesn't it?

no it was only in a manilla envelope with a smelly disc, maybe trying to cover up the smell?

It depends, it might wash right out and it might not but generally it does. My grandma smokes a lot and when she sends the kids clothes or anything I can smell it on the envelope and everything . I had the smell wash right out of a dress but not out of a few xmas stockings she sent.

I would have been upset and I would leave it in your feedback also

it is possible that it was the mail carrier that made it stinky. one of my mail carriers (we have about 5 different ones) smokes in the truck and it makes the packages i get REEK of smoke so i won't leave packages out anymore for his stinky butt to pick up for me.

but it could have been a postal worker on her end kwim? personally, i don't think that mailcarriers should be able to smoke in their trucks. they are handling OUR mail and getting them stinky. grrrrrr it just ticks me off!

I had a mailman that smoked in the truck all the time, he would park in front of the houses and spend about 15 minutes smoking in there. We all complained about him to the P.O and all they did was say there wasn't much they could do they had been told and he would get taken off the route for a little while. I was so happy when he finally retired!

But it always seemed the package would stink but not the contents if it was just him smoking in the truck. If the diaper itself stinks I would assume it was from being in the wahm's house and around when she was smoking. But I'm not an engineer or a smoker so not sure how all that works :LOL.

Hey first the : D smiley stopped working, we get him back and now my beloved LOL is gone??

My postal workers smoke in the post office and if I am not there in the morning to pick up my packages the diapers reek of smoke, unless they are sealed in a ziploc inside of the packaging.

Yuck, yuck, yuck! The smell of smoke is disgusting. I think it is more likely the smoke smell came from the source vs the postal carrier - especially if there was a smelly disc in there. I would e-mail the seller first and let her know of the problem - see what she does about it. If she blows you off, by all means, give her negative feedback.

I might suggest doing a vinegar rinse. Once the diapers have washed, set your washer to "rinse" and add about 1/2 cup of vinegar, it might help get the smell out.

Not only is the smell of smoke disgusting, it is a health hazard. Sidestream cigarette smoke contains carcinogens - not something to which you want to expose your child or yourself. Definately complain to the WAHM (you never know it might be the last thing she needs to hear to help her decide to quit )

It could also be the mail carrier. I love our mail carrier, but have complained to the post office because she smokes in her truck and all my packages smell like smoke. I got a lame email back telling me to contact them by phone, but I never did because she disappeared for a few weeks. I was so worried I got her fired. :

It could be someone through the mail service. I got a package from a WAHM last week who I know gives good service and dipes and would not smoke around her fluff and the dipes didn't really smell but it was the package that did. But don't worry smoke smell comes out in the wash. Being an ex-smoker I know.

I would honestly say, before anything else, email her and simply let her know, ask if she smokes. I know that it will wash out in one wash, easily. I used to be a bartender years ago, and know how stinky it gets, and after being exposed to it for 8 hours a day, it always washed out.

I would say that before assuming it was her, just email and check first. And just because there was something scented in the package might not be a cover up. I always include smelly samples - soaps, salts, etc but I don't smoke.

Not in defense here, I don't know who it is, but just saying out of fairness talk to the wahm before anything else. Hope it wasn't her, I know how horrible it feels to get poor CS from someone you buy from.

I would contact the WAHM and ask if she smokes or someone in her house does because the dipe smelled. Then, if she says yes, tell her you are sending the dipe back and you want a refund. If she says no, I guess you will have to take her word for it, but I would sure call the PO to talk to them about it. Not only does it smell, but it is also an allergen.

Good luck.

One of my mail carriers (walking route) comes to the door with a stogie. I just about gag from the lingering odor when I open the door to get the mail!

First of all that's disgusting. I'm sorry that happened to you! Definitely rule out the WAHM first then talk with your p.o. There's no reason your packages should smell like smoke! ITA w/everything Milkie&Cookie said.
