I just received a lot of 18 fitted diapers that I won on ebay. They were listed as unbleached, but as it turns out, the sellers had bought them unbleached but then ended up bleaching them. Needless to say, I'm disappointed. The seller has offered to "make it right," but I'm not sure what that would be.

I know that bleach weakens fabric, but does it affect the diaper in any other way? Also, how do I get that bleach smell out of the diapers? I've washed them once, but I can still smell it (or maybe it's my imagination?).

Can't bleach also be a skin irritant?

use vinegar in a rinse cycle and that will get rid of bleach smells very well. or you can just add some vinegar to the wash cycle too with no soap. either will work.

as for making it right, not sure what you want. i guess you could return them to her or you could just ask for some $ back. also, how many times did she bleach them? just a few times, probably no big deal but if it was a lot, then i'd be more concerned about the fabric being damaged. maybe others have some better suggestions.

Bleach is definitely a skin irritant. I would start rinsing like crazy. Some people here use bleach whn they absolutely do not know WHAT to do with their diapers that have stink issues. When stripping doesn't work, they turn to a small glug of bleach. And yeah, I think glug is a scientific term! :LOL I would start rinsing several times to see if you can get the bleach smell and residue off the diapers and definitely work out an arrangement with the seller. I would ask for money back on them because what was advertised was not what was recieved. Plus when you get diapers that ar supposedly in excellent or good condition or whatever, you expect to be able to wash once and have your child wear them. You dont' expect to have to rinse 50times before using. That's a huge hassle. I'd definitely ask for soem money back on these diapers.

Bleach is a major skin irritant here - I break out in the worst hives from it, and bleach in a diaper always made my son's bottom blister (even a little bit of bleach).

So - I'd run a few loads - WITH a good amount of detergent (not the full amount, but more than normal) and proceed to strip them completely.

THEN - I'd sun for as long as I possibly could (at least a full day)

I'd definately ask for money back on those diapers.
