Ok, I have 2 childhood fears. Sock monkeys and pincher bugs. (they scare me so bad I can't say their real name!) Luckily there are no sock monkeys at the new place we moved into. Oh but there are pincher bugs!! Now, I am all for the creatures of the earth, but I want these things to go AWAY! I've sprayed my earthy stuff and I've sprayed Ortho. No go. They are all over my house and have even been lurking in my bed. I'm a tidy house keeper...there's nothing here for them darn it. What can I do? Help!

Sorry, but I have to ask you outloud, Earwigs?
If so, dust the perimeter and window sills of your house with diatemaceous earth, clean up any debris in the yard, particularly near the house and entrances. Make traps in the yard with rolled up newspaper strategically placed in the yard, then plastic bag it in the mornings (of course, you will have to have someone else do that, I understand
) Also, caulk any cracks, openings, etc. around windows and doors.

I hate them too, and I had a huge, huge problem with them at my previous house. They were mostly out in the yard, because we had good windows and glass blocked basement windows, but they would get in. In the yard, they were EVERYWHERE! I particularly hated finding them munching on my dahlias! A year or so of the above methods, it was much more manageable. I would also do something pretty gross, I would move planters, pieces of cardboard, whatever in the mornings and have a stomping party! Don't even think about it :LOL

That's all I can think of right now, diatemaceous earth can be an irritant, so keep the kiddos away. It is not poisonous, though.

You said the "E" word. Ok, wrote it all down. I'll be off to Yard Birds tomarrow. The moving the bucket deal is where it all comes flooding back. I was about 7 and helping Papa clean up the patio. I moved a big bucket, cuz I was so strong at 7, and there they were! The "E's." Squriming and twisting. And of course at 7, what was probably 20 or so of "them" seemed like a billion!

Is this stuff safe around my dog? Thanks for the info :^)

Sorry, I had to say it! I totally understand your fears and sock monkeys freak me out, too!

Well, it's safe, but it is an irritant to pets, also. I was recently informed of that fact on this particular board, I might add, although I believe I did read it on the package label originally. However, I have a dog and never had a problem with him getting into it. You would not just spew the stuff willy nilly all over the yard, right? Of Course Not!!
Do a couple of google searches on it, always smart to have your own research and not just listen to some weird girl on a message board, kwim?

Again, Good Luck!!

I did not know this. Well, we're renting at the moment. My neighbors would get a kick out of it. We recently moved from the foothills where I could have gotten away w/a hen or 2. I'll remember this when we buy next year. It'll be hen city if I see one "E" Thanks!

But I just read that it is safe around pets, that you can mix it in with their food to deworm them!
