This is the first child for both of us, and I'd really like to give something to dp that is meaningful. I think I want it to be more of a "beginning of a wonderful new journey" type of something, rather than a "you'll no longer be responsibility-free"
Any ideas?

Hand him the baby and take a 9 hour nap.

Seriously, I'll try to think of something....

This is a great idea, so I'll ditto the question. It's our first too, and there's been a lot of talk about how our lives will never be the same. In many good ways, of course...but you know what I mean.
So, I'd like to get something for DP too. Good thinking...

For Father's Day after each of our kids has been born, I've gotten dh an Lucy Ann keychain. The front has the baby's first name and either the boy or girl engraving, and the back has their birthdate.

It's small, it's something he'll actually carry (he is NOT a pictures-in-wallet sappy-emotional type guy), and when our kids someday get their own driver's licenses, dh plans to give them their keychains, which I think is sweet.

PS....and waiting until Father's Day, instead of trying to have something right at/after the birth gives me time to do the personalization, without the stress, LOL!

I think that's a really nice thought. I'd love to do that.
Unfortunately, I have absolutely no good ideas for gifts. I'll put my thinking cap on and report back.

Oh wow, I'm so glad you linked that Lucy Ann site! My gmil gave me a necklace with dd's name on it and I had no idea where it came from. (she passed away before our 2nd was born) I'd love to have a pendant for each child.

My DH is a sports guy so i had our daughter's name embroidered on a baseball cap and gave it to him right after the birth. Fortunately, it's the name of a city, too, so it's not all girly, like wearing a hat that says "Britney" or something. I don't know WHAT to do this time.

How about some cool baby carrier? I know, it is still baby related, but may be nice...
