DS (10 months) seems to really want a little pillow. Doctors & children's healthcare institutions say one should not give a child under the age of 2 years a pillow.
But if my DS wants one... ?! He partially lies on my pillow at night (pushing me off it
) or he takes his teddy as a pillow....
Do you think it's safe to give him a baby's pillow now?

Thanks for letting me know!

Oooh, I would love to know too! My daughter is 12 months...last night she was up for more than an hour at the worst time (3-4:30ish
: ) and would settle down only with her head propped on my pillow. Every time I tried to move her to the flat part of the bed she woke up and started crying again
: --finally I could not take it any more and let her stay (and had my head right next to hers), even though I thought it wasn't the safest. Even under normal circumstances she likes to sleep with the top of her head touching something (a pillow, the headboard, me or dh, etc.).

Desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess.

Flat Pillows are great for the over 6 months. My niece used hers as her lovey for a couple of years. (duplicate pillowcases required)

As long as they want the pillow and it is flat, then they are probably ready for it. My DS uses my tummy as a pillow at night....

let me know if you find one you like

i have one my grandma made for ds. the pillow case is sewn on both sides. he likes it but i would like to get him something wider. they all seem too fluffy or not wide enough. i started when he was six months old b/c i could tell he knew what to do with it and i was near by.

DD is 19 months, and was recently quite sick. She needed to elevate her head, so she either slept with her head on me or on my pillow. It was quickly clear that she prefers sleeping with a pillow to sleeping without. So I gave her a flat one with a tight-fitting pillowcase, and she loves it!

Absolutely. A smallish pillow (decorative style pillow) with a flat pillow insert. try to get a case that zippers or envelope style.

DD slept with tiny, thin, baby pillow (that had been mine) starting at age 1, but 10 months seems okay if baby wants it. My 10-month old sometimes likes to sleep on our pillows for naps, but doesn't seem to need them at night, so I'm trying to wait. We only have a double, so I'm not sure there'd be room for another pillow anyway!
