I'm not sure which forum to put this in. I've always seen the Mama Coat sold with nursing clothes, although I guess technically, it's not a nursing item.

Anyway, I need a new jacket, and I was thinking the Mama Coat would be good, but I didn't realize how expensive it is. Wow! Does anyone sell something similar? Basically, I just need a medium weight jacket that I can zip up around Nadia when she's in the sling. The PX didn't have ANYTHING that I liked, and the German jackets I tried were too close fitting to zip when wearing the sling.

TIA!

When DS was a baby I had a regular jacket that happened to be cut big and was a size bigger than strictly necessary (since I liked it that way) . He fit quite well inside in the Snuggly.

When I pregnant with DD I made myself a Japanese coat, style is called Happi, and made it big enough for us both to fit inside both before and after she was born. I made it out of a heavy denim for wind resistance and lined it with polar fleece. I still use it as my winter coat as it's large enough for me to wear another layer of polarfleece underneath on really cold days.

She fit under there quite nicely in the sling either on my front or on my back.

I just bought a cape.(off ebay-it's fleece with a velour collar was like $10 new) I leave the top buttons undone for her head to pop out. It left my arms free for sling adjusting and BFing. All my son's friends thought it was tres' chic. (he's a teenager).
