You'd think I'd know some things now having nursed 4, for pete's sake, but seems like something new always comes up. For almost the last week, I've had sore nipples. It's worse on latch on, or when I start to pump, but lasts throughout the feeding or pumping. I don't see any skin irritation. My dd is definitely in that acrobatic stage, and has several new teeth, but she's good about opening wide to latch, and usually just kicks the lower half of her body. I haven't had AF yet since her birth (which is longer than my other 3 kids, where I started at 10 mos each time.) We haven't changed anything else, other than when she turned 1, I dropped 1 pump session at work, so am just pumping at lunch now, but I've only done that 2 days, and today I took half a day off, so it really hasn't been that much of a change.
What could be causing this?

Could possibly be on her way? Or is it possible that she won't be coming for a long, long time?

It definately sounds hormonal. There are just no other hormonal possiblities I can think of.

This happens to me a lot if I go a day or two without a bra (like over the weekend). Sometimes it takes me a while realize that is the reason I'm sore...

Ovulation/gearing up for AF's return?

I was wondering the same thing for myself last month, and yep, it was o pain. Darn uncomfortable, too. It is so bad again this month that I find myself trying to avoid nursing at times.

I would have nipple soreness off and on when ds was teething, quite a bit. But once the teeth started to break through, it immediately got better (and it was never this intense soreness, more like I would feel his mouth coming down funny on my nipple).

Hey, you guys are brilliant. Today I have EWCM for the first time since baby, so Im guessing AF will be showing up. I don't remember being so sore with my other babies, except when I was still nursing Catherine and got pregnant with Justin. But this time, if that happens, there's a urologist we can talk to about collecting child support

I had sore nipples two weeks ago... I thought it was from my toddler's antics while nursing (he climbs all over in my lap while nursing) but then AF showed up last week for the first time at 13mo pp. So it could have been either or both. No soreness now, BTW.

Good luck!
