I am 4 1/2 weeks. I have been cramping pretty much since I found out, mild cramping. Now, today, it is moreso moderate, like a 5 on a scale of 1-10. It feels like AF, like when I would start reaching for the Advil so I don't have to be uncomfortable while standing at sink, etc.

Well this afternoon (I got up really late, couldn't sleep last night), laying in bed, I could feel the cramps. Then when I got up to use potty, there was a string or two of red that flowed out...mostly red, but a little mucus-like too (red mixed with clear). Then when I wipe, there is some red, and a litle brown. It is like the beginnings of a period. Not like the strong part of a period.

I am still cramping moderately, nothing flowing out, but it's there when I wipe.

I don't know if I should call my OB or what. I am a new patient (live in new city) and they said don't come in until 6 weeks, so I have an appointment but I've never been there. It is 3:15 PM here, should I call now?

Thanks!!!! Also, does this sound like a miscarriage? I read cramping and even bleeding can be relatively normal, but when you get them together, that could be bad? I am prepared for it....please just let me know your opinion! Thanks. My last pregnancy years back was a miscarriage but I never cramped or bled, have to have DandC eventually.

Okay, edit to add: I have some Prometrium here, (progesterone pill, natural source) and I am thinking of taking it. Could I hurt anything? I know it can prevent miscarriage. But I dunno if I "need" it. So my question is, could it hurt?

Bleeding and cramping is very common, especially around the time you you should have got your period. Personally, I would call my doctor, especially if you suspect a progesterone issue.

I hope it turns out to be nothing.

Thank you so much for the replies. I appreciate the support....it is what makes it all bearable.

I ended up calling OB, they said they couldn't see me, but told me to go to the ER if things stayed same or got worse. I ended up going to ER and found out it was a miscarriage, due to VERY low HcG levels (meaning that is how we knew for sure), and the cramping and bleeding continued through the night and today. The cause is undetermined, but I am going to get my progesterone levels tested when I can. The one blessing is that everyone in the ER was SO kind and sympathetic, and treated me like a human being. Thank God for that.

If you are the praying type, any prayers for myself and hubby would be appreciated, just that we will find peace in this and that the next pregnancy (we will likely wait a few months due to some current obstacles) will be smooth. Sorry to ask...it's just that we don't want to tell a lot of people because it's not our first miscarriage, so we can't ask many people to pray for us....no one really knew what was going on. Thank you, ladies! And best wishes to those pregnant!
