so... I'm now afraid I may be getting SPD... I don't remember having it diagnosed in previous pregnancies but reading up on it does look like all the recommendations my doctor gave me for the lower back pain with DD... though I don't remember if I had the uh... groin pain for lack of a better word... but that was five years ago. Though I do remember it starting much later than this!

I have I suppose been subconsciously doing everything I should be to make the pain more bearable but it was only tonight when I was out shopping and made the mistake of NOT getting a shopping cart that Ive realized how bad it has gotten.

Last night... I sat on a chair while scrubbing my stovetop because it hurt too much to stand (in the groin and lower back) and shopping today I just realized over the past few weeks Ive been leaning on shopping carts while shopping to make the walking easier. DF even noticed that I was sitting down yesterday (I had my laptop in the kitchen to talk to him on skype while I cleaned) and said he only thought it was because I was too tired... but no, I'm not tired. It just HURTS.

Yet it wasn't until tonight when I bought an extendable shower scrubber thinking... oh if I use this I can sit in the chair and scrub the floor instead of having to try to figure out how to maneuver the mop from standing... that I realized just how bad its gotten. Its not that I'm lazy, I have the urge to clean, I just cant handle standing.

UGH. I really hope its not SPD, but its hard to think its not. On the plus side, from what I read about it if that's what it turns out to be I have the most beneficial birth planned for it.

Have any of you actually gone through this before? Is it possible to be getting it already at 22 weeks (well 20 or 21 weeks I suppose Ive been doing some of these things for a while now)

if so... can you explain how it felt and tell me what (if anything) helped you?

I have it. For me it feels like my pubic bone is being pulled from my body along with my hips and butt bone and lower back. I also have grinding occasionally when I walk and shooting pain all the way down my legs. Ouch! Putting on pants or getting into the car kills and running is pretty much 100% out. Rolling over during sleep or getting out of bed are not my favorite activities at the moment either!

I didn't get this with my first three pregnancies, but at around 30 weeks with my last pregnancy it started . This time mild pain started around 14 weeks and it really hit the Sunday before Mother's Day. To the point that I could hardly walk or stand. I've been taking it easy since then and I've noticed that it's not as bad (especially since I've stopped running at boot camp and only walk/slow jog now). I've started looking into chiropractors in this area that are familiar with SPD so hopefully I'll be getting adjusted soon and hopefully that will help. I do notice that if I am too "lazy" during the day the SPD also acts up. I'm trying to find a happy medium level of activity. Exercise definitely helps, but it has to be the right kind (and I'm still figuring out what that is exactly )

It didn't go away right after birth last time either...I think it took 3-4 months before I was totally pain free.

This is CRAZY...

I went to walmart, not for long, and that was more than enough to throw me back into overwhelming pain. I have a play to go to for my son in a couple hours and I have to get there 15 minutes early just to make it to his room on time because of how slow I have to waddle to avoid too much pain...

and when I walk it feels like my butt is cracking. Pop, pop, pop, pop... uuuugh

I'm there too. For the second time. With my last pregnancy it started at about 24 weeks. This time its been since 17 weeks and it sucks. The sleeping at the hospital made it worse and unfortunately I haven't been able to slow down since which is not helping at all.

Im trying to slow down but with my wedding and the move coming up I am terrified of how I am going to feel by the end of June!

I was officially diagnosed with it today though... it got so bad I finally called and went into the doctor.

I'm headed around this corner too. I cleaned for a few hours yesterday and then couldn't walk! I got stuck in bed and had to have DH help me out and then shuffle me over the stairs. Once I stepped down whatever was out clicked back in on the "swing and drop" motion of the steps. I made it down the stairs but had to go back up with my hands a few steps ahead of me. I've been having problems with intense pelvic pressure (like a really heavy baby PUSHING down) for a few weeks now. The maternity belt helps a ton with the pressure but doesn't touch this hip/back/groin pain. This is new for me, no problems the last two pregnancies!

my midwife gave me a # to a chiro who does SPD adjustments...I can't wait!! It seems that sleeping is when the pain is the worst, I have the hardest time rolling over and walking after I've been laying down. Which really sucks because all I want to do is lay down and rest lol!

I'm glad you're feeling better! I'm reading late so I was going to suggest chiro - especially one trained in the Webster technique.

I had it last pregnancy toward the end, this time it started creeping in way early 14 weeks maybe? I've been protecting myself like crazy - avoiding anything that causes me to lift one leg without the other, bearing down without contracting the lower abs, keeping my knees together when rolling over, etc. So far things are manageable but I'm going to schedule a chrio appt. in a few weeks.
