Is there some reason why I should schedule my 6 week checkup? I had a great delivery, 3 stitches and feel fabulous. Do I have to go to the 6 week checkup for insurance reasons? Is that why they want me there? I mean, other than the fact that they want to CTA...why else do I really need to go?

I don't know of any real reason other than confirm you're healing fine. I always went, I paid for it anyway as part of the pg/delivery and wanted my moneys worth.

I went just because I wanted to see my midwife again.
I figured I wouldn't get another chance to see her (unless I just happened to randomly) for a few years at least. Plus, yeah, I did pay for it, so why not?

I see no reason to truck us all down there.

Unless of course you want/need to gloat to sOB R. :LOL
OMG, you owe me a new laptop now that I have drowned this one in water. :LOL

I just hate to have to waste all that time but there is the gloating factor....hmmmm.

What? You mean, she did not really need to be induced at 37 weeks for white coat syndrome???? NO WAY!

Ah, I can see it now...

I would just LOVE to see his face when he checked your chart and saw that you made it to 41+3 and delivered WITHOUT ANY INTERVENTION AT ALL.

That was jubiliant yelling, btw.

I hate his guts and I don't even know him.

BTW, all is well here, but I've screwed up my email some how. Working on it.

I only went because I wanted to show DD off to all the nurses and all!
Basically, my ob asked me how I felt, checked my stiches, and asked me if I needed birth control information. That's it. Oh, and advised me not to lose weight too quickly, and gave me a few of her own breastfeeding tips from her own experience, because I was having difficulties.

if you are going to get hormonal bc, then you can get it at yr 6wk. beyond that, as long as everything is fine, there is no reason to go unless you want to.

With my 1st, i went to my 6wk check up. He checked the stitches, checked the size of my uterus, and did an annual exam (pap). And let me just say, OUCH it hurt when that damn speculum (sp?) was in.

So, I didn't go to my 6wk check up w/ my second and everything was fine.

Now that I've had my 3rd , I haven't gone to my 6wk check up either. :LOL But, I did have to go to him for an unrelated Bartholin cyst 2wks postpartum and he did use the speculum during that visit, and it didn't hurt.

Anyway, so no, I'd say unless you're feeling "not right", then I wouldn't go personally. But it's up to you, of course.
