Everyone is raving about OV so I'm wondering if I should get some to try, but I'm wondering why it's so special.

1. How is OV different from "regular" velour? (I mean apart from the organic thing)
2. Is it 100% cotton?
3. Does it perform differently than non-organic 100% cotton?
4. What about the wetness factor, would a cotton/poly blend velour feel drier than a 100% cotton velour?
5. Would it stain less? (My velour inners seem to stain SO much worse than my fleece ones!)

TIA!

1) It's softer.
2) It's 100% organic cotton-- no poly backing.
3) I don't think so, though it would have no chemical residues from the growing or processing of the cotton.
4) Most "cotton" velours are about 80/20 poly/cotton, so the difference isn't that great. I doubt the 20% poly adds much in the way of a "stay-dry" quality. In theory, the poly/cotton velour would last longer because the poly adds stability, but you lose the 100% natural feeling of the OV.
5) I think it would probably stain similarly to a poly/cotton velour, though I think that on a 100% cotton fabric, stains are more easily sunned out than on a blend.

I think the raves about OV are because it is a 100% natural and organic fabric choice that is luxurious.

Thanks, that was my thought too, but I was afraid I was missing something.

It'll wear out faster, that's the only down side to organic stuff. I remember a thread a year or so ago on the diapering forum, people were freaking out that their fuzbaby diapers were wearing out so quickly, but that's what you get when a fabric doesn't have any poly in it to make it last longer.

Thanks Jessica! That's good to know. Since I'm not stuck on organic I'll stick with the "regular" stuff then.
