okay, i was on my way to visit family with my mom and daughter in the car, when all of a sudden i saw blue lights. so of course i pull over, and he pulls over behind me

he says i was speeding 47 in a 35 i really thought (and still do) that the speed was 45 because 10 feet ahead from where he clocked me was a sign in the other direction that was 55mph. according to the ticket, he pulled me on the same road he clocked me.

anyway, do any of you have experience in virginia with tickets??

the phone number on my ticket said that they don't do prayer for judgements; i have 2 options: 1.pay the fine and get license and insurance points or 2.show up to court and ask the judge to (release ?) me or something like that where i could attend a traffic school at home and the ticket would be thrown out.

any help or advice?? i've never gotten a ticket before

Can you check online to see if you can appeal that way and maybe send in a photo of the speed limit sign noting 55?

I've never gotten a speeding ticket in Virgina, but honestly unless the fine is really huge, I would just pay it. It wouldn't be worth the time to me to go to court and then maybe have to go to traffic school.

i don't really mind paying the fine, but my insurance will go up for the next 3 years!!! so if i could just pay for traffic court ($50), the even with the day off work i'd come out to the good. the only think i can do online is pay
