Hi everyone! I'm so excited to announce the birth of Spencer Richard on Friday, August 11 at 6:13pm. He was 8lb 2oz and 20 inches at birth, he has blue eyes and brown hair and looks a lot like his older brother and his daddy.

Here's the birth story: As some of you may remember, my ORIGINAL due date was 8/10 but my OB moved the date to the 24th... I never agreed with her, but kept it to myself for the most part. Over the last few weeks I've been having contractions, but nothing regular or timeable. I went in for a check up on Friday at 11 am. I was given an ultrasound to check growth and AFI-I measure small and had low AFI with my first son. Well, the ultra sound tech said that she thought the baby might be 9 pounds! DH and I were floored-but excited, as I thought I might be induced again-and I was. Turns out my AFI was low too, and my doctor sent me right to the hospital. I was already at 4-5cm and 70% effaced. She broke my water at 1:00 pm. I had an epidural (the scariest part of the whole thing) at about 2:30pm. I only pushed for about 40 minutes-versus over 2 1/2 hours with DS1-what a difference!! All in all, I was very pleased with my birth experience. I had excellent nursing care and Spencer had excellent care as well.

He's a great baby so far. He's breastfeeding like a champ-I have the sore nipples to prove it. DS1 is beginning to make the transition, we'll see how that goes over the next couple of weeks. I'm just so happy to have our new little guy-the 38+ weeks of torture was worth it!

Can't wait to hear other stories.

Megan
