With our kids, naturally! Ok, my family and I have been in this area for 6+ months now, and while we have made friends in the near vicinity, I'd really like to meet you all in person and hang out and have fun! My kids would DEFINITELY like to do that. I know my oldest would love to hear me say, "yes, we can call that kid and set up a playdate again"... the kids around here, I don't know, once we've met them I really don't like the influences they have on my sons.

So what do you think, mamas (and papas)? I'd love to meet somewhere where there is possibly a playground or space to run around- John Bryan or wherever! I am totally up to driving to Dayton.. just got a new car
If anyone posts ideas I'll name the time and day and see who wants to meet. This summer will be getting away from us before we even realize it, and I wanna make some friends, myself!

So please let me know what you think!!

Lonely, bored, and feeling kinda out of sorts since we moved from Athens, OH......

Hello everyone! My name is Shelbi and our family is moving from the pnw to Ohio. My dh and I are both native Ohioans but have been living on the west coast for the past 5 years. We are moving back for a couple of years so that I can finish school and my kids can actually get to know some of their family. We will be arriving sometime late July-early August (the hottest time of the year unfortunately).

It is going to be a long move but a good one for our family. I would like to know if there are any rentals in the Yellow Springs area. I grew up in Ohio but haven't been back in a number of years. I always liked that area and it would be a good one to be in since we have been living on the west coast for five years. Better neighbors KWIM? Plus, I am a former Antioch student and remember the Glenn so fondly. I can't wait to go to show the kids the pine forest.

So, if anyone sees a 3 bedroom home or apartment please let me know. I am really nervous about moving back to the bible belt. I think living in Yellow Springs will give me a little bit of a buffer between the ******* republicans and me. (I hope no one is offended-but I am a native Ohioan and I know a thing or two about ******** since both my parents happen to be that way)

Plus, my ds is really hyperactive and struggles with sensory integration issues (no diagnosis yet since we are STILL on the waiting list for an evaluation). I am really nervous about the type of school system that he will be in. I have read up on the yellow springs schools and they sound more like a good fit for him than some of the other communities.

It is going to be quite the adventure. I am going to miss the west coast. I will miss the natural beauty of Washington. I love trees so much it will be difficult to leave the pristine mountains and lakes and trees. But, Ohio bound we will be soon enough.
:LOL

I would love to be able to get together with some of the area mamas whenever we get settled enough. I think it would be great to go camping at John Bryan again. I really miss that area. Well, better go and get off of this computer already. I have a million things to do today.

Peace,
Shelbi

Hi Shelbi! I look forward to meeting you. I am pretty fresh from moving from a "blue" area to a place where you grew up and haven't lived for a long time. I grew up in Springfield and left in '87 only to return this year for family reasons. I, too, was excited about my kids being near family and that aspect has really been great. I love taking them to the Glen (my husband and I married in the pine forest!). We will definitely have to hang out when you get here. It's comforting to know that you have friends waiting for you when you get here! Hopefully by that time I will have some kind of regular play/enrichment group started in this area. We started a group in Athens and my kids jones for that interaction now.

Good luck with your move!

It would be really nice to be able to get together whenever we get settled. It will be so much drama at first. It always is when you move I guess. I hope to get settled quickly because I would very much like to register for classes after we get there.

Well, I hope you have much luck with your playgroup. I will be dropping in from time to time but I may not be much of a regular on these boards. I lurk way more than I actually post. I have a million things to do before now and the time we leave. I am still working as well. I hope I have the energy to pull off yet another move over 2,000 miles. :LOL

Peace,
Shelbi

So... back to the topic at hand....

Isn't there anyone out there interested in getting together and hanging out? Or are there any current playgroups going on that perhaps my kids and I could join?

thanks!

ok- I am sold! What days and times are the best to get together for you mamas? We are pretty much open anytime these days, now that soccer and our homeschool group has ended. I have 2 boys- a 5 yr old and 2 1/2 year old who love to play with all ages, boys and girls alike. We do not mind driving to Dayton at all.

Any other mamas out there interested? Please! Let's hang out!

Any of those days and times work for us- what about you scifimom? How many kids do you have?

We're going to the Community Festival (Comfest) in Columbus this weekend? Anyone going or ever been there? I've gone every summer for the past 15 years, except for the last 3. Unless it's changed, it's always been a really fun music filled day and a great space for kids!

Hello Ladies!

Its a small world. I too am moving from PNW (greater Seattle area) to Miamisburg in two weeks. I would LOVE to meet some new friends in the area. I've never lived in Ohio before but my DH is from there. It will be very new for me. Any day of the week works for us, mornings are usually best. We arrive on July 8th, but the movers will come sometime the following week and one day will be out--but plan anyway I will let you know as I know what works.

My son is 28 months old.

Sorry My pc has been acting up and I've worked alot his past two weeks so I haven't been able to get here to reply
: Mondays are not the best cause i babysit up to 5 kids already and my house is not that big lol but any other day is good, just won't be around next week, how's Wed July 13th sound? I won't be able to check my email though till probably the 10th, so you ladies can figure out if that works for you and if not we can pick a new date when I get back. I have 3 boys age 3, 5, and 6. And a very kid oriented house stuffed full of toys and pets
The chickens will be outside by then so it will even smell better in here by then lol. If you want a second opinion on if i'm a middle aged man or not, ask around in the dayton thread lol, most of them know me
Forgot to add I'm pretty close to downtown dayton, very easy to get here from anywhere and earlier than 9:30 I will be grumpy so after then is better
