My daughter has been struggling with a yeast rash for several months and the daycare she goes to insists it must be from the diapers and have been putting her in sposies. The dipes are always rinsed in vinegar, and I have been boiling them every couple weeks as well and bleaching probably too often. I dont think there is any wway the yest could survive that. I honestly see little difference between when shes in a sposie or a cloth dipe, in fact, a lot of the time it is worse in a sposie cuz it rubs in a way that cloth doesn't and causes chafing on her legs.I really dont want all those toxic chemicals next to my babe's skin. So, I don't know what else to do besides buy safe sposies and take them there. i don't wwant them to call cps or something. GRRRRRRR. I know its not the dipes, but im at a loss. Any suggestions?

Try looking for Tendercare or Tushies. Both are sposies that are more natural. Don't know that much about them, just that they exist!

What kind of cloth diapers are you using? My ds sometimes gets rashy just from having wet cotton on his skin. If I put a cheap fleece liner in, it helps a lot!

Could it be your detergent?

Could it be something else? I realized my ds's bad rashes were from a food allergy! Soy for us, but could that be a possibility?

Good luck, Mama!

yeah im starting to think it might be a food allergy because it started about the time dd stated eating significant amounts of solid foods. The doc has always just said it is yeast tho. But maybe I should get a second opinion because ya kno how clueless so many docs are these days. I just switched from plain Tide to Planet, we'll see if that helps.

Food allergy could be a strong possibility.

my son had huge rash issues to any synthetic or fleece type diaper and it was worse if I introduced a sposie.

Good Luck.

Natural fiber diapers were our savior.

Nature Babycare are all natural, biodegradable, cotton sposies. Most Targets even carry them.

Has your doc ever cultured the "rash" to be sure it is yeast? After this long, I would demand it be done. It very well could be an allergy though. Since you don't see much of a difference between cloth and sposies, it is probably something she is eating. My D has issues with anything citrus. It turns her pee to acid and it burns her. And since it is pee, it goes everywhere on her diaper area where as poop would only be from where the poop touched her.

I took her to the doc, asked her to cultuer it, and she siad you couldn't effectively culture something dry. They gave me a stronger cream, which seems to be working. Said to use it for 3 weeks and if its still not resolved to come back. Good news... She said CONTINUE USING CLOTH DIAPERS right on the form for the daycare. i have never had a doc recommend sposies for a rash anyway. I think its cuz she was kinda old school so actually knew about cloth diapers and didn't have the odd notion the daycare had that since sposies "keep them drier" they are better! so YAY! now i have "permission" to continue with cloth and don't have to worry about it!

We've had major rash issues with my son ever since he turned 1 and we added grains into his diet. We were in sposies with him and I switched him to Seventh Generation diapers and it took the rash away almost immediately. So if you wind up needing to do sposies again I highly recommend those.

My son got a yeast rash and my dr. gave me an antibiotic cream to use. I wanted to avoid that if possible. so I bought some Boericke & Tafel Califlora Calendula Gel and in 3-4 days the rash was gone and no antibiotic cream!

I never went back and told the dr. I did that, but I was pretty pleased. So you could maybe add that to the mix and maybe it would help. I hear it is good for all skin conditions, not just a yeast rash. So even if it isn't yeast it may help. Also, when we do have a difficult rash I put shea butter on his bum and it always gets rid of the rash. I call it my miracle cream. I don't even waste my money on diaper rash creams anymore.

Hope the rash gets better, they can be such a pain! For baby and mama.
