My questions for you are:
2. What is the most interesting thing that has happened to you in your life?
3. If you had a million dollars what would you do with it?

Have fun!!

Hi mamas! Happy long weekend to the US mamas!

My paragraph...I'm wordy, so lets see if I can just keep it to one!

I'm Kat/Kati/Katherine depending on what stage in life you met me at and my husband is Josh. I'm 29, he's 30. I was born in Florida, raised in Mississippi, met my husband in Atlanta, Georgia, we got married in Bloomington, Indiana and now our first baby will be born in Houston, Texas. We have two dogs and a kitty cat that all manage to ignore each other quite peacefully. I knit a lot, sew somewhat, occasionally get inspired to smock, and attempt to devour as many books as possible. I think that's a pretty good summary of things to get us started! Oh, I also blog at www.josh-kati.com

Oh, I'll throw out this tidbit, a lot of people are surprised by how much needlework I do, but I consider it my family inheritance. My great-grandmother quilted, my grandmother quilted and crocheted, and my mom quilts and sews, so I every time I sit down with a project in my hands, I instantly feel connected to these generations before me. It's so inspiring.

1. Getting her here safe and sound. I lost twins at 10/12ish weeks this time last summer, so I just want her here safe and sound in my arms. I also am somewhat concerned about having a hospital birth, but I'm not brave enough to do a home birth. But in the end, just having us both safe and sound on the othe side is my biggest concern.

2. Well, I had an elephant run away with me on it's back when we were in Thailand! That was interesting, to say the least. She didn't run far, but she did run! I also got to give a baby tiger cub his bottle and kiss him on the nose. But truthfully, the most "interesting" thing that has shaped who I am is the fact that I was raised by a single father. My parents divorced when I was three, and my dad raised my baby brother and I. I think that one thing alone has contributed more to who I am than anything else.

3. Oh lord, a million dollars. Truthfully, we'd move back home to Atlanta and buy a house with it. But I'd also set aside some for a yarn allowance for the rest of my life : I'd also set aside ten thousand or so and do nothing but buy petco/petsmart gift cards with it, so when I see a homeless person with their dog(s), I could help them out. Nothing breaks my heart more than that.

What's your favorite holiday and tradition (i.e. Christmas and hanging stockings)?

I don't have one tradition exactly, but I just love the tradition of bringing family together for special occasions. Nothing makes me happier than looking around a room and seeing everyone that I love there. On a non-traditional note, I wasn't raised to believe in Santa Clause, and we'll probably raise Poppy that same way as well. Bah Humbug

What has been the happiest moment of your life so far?
Well, getting my positive test with my twins. It was hands down just amazing. The positive with Poppy was awesome too - but so much of my happiness with her has been tempered by fear too. A close second was getting married and the first time Josh felt Poppy kick.

Do you like your work?
I'm a SAHW, so I love it Sometimes it gets a little dull and it's hard to really value your job when all your "job" is is cleaning the house, but I find it challenges me to grow as a person in ways I never thought staying home would. I also think it's made me a really secure person (although I still work on that) because so much of who we are is defined by what we do.

My degree is in English lit, so I'm so going to cheat on this question!!
1. The Complete Works of e.e.cummings
2. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
3. The Awakening and Selected Short Stories by Kate Chopin

If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world where would you go?
Right now, it would be to wait until Poppy was about a year old then to go and spend six weeks in China. Josh spent a year off and on there studying during his undergrad, and his love for the country has made it my top place to visit.

How did you and your partner meet?
Online of course, isn't that how all great love stories start?

Adeline Marie, Avonlea Rose, Annalee Marie, Annamarie Rose and Amelia Rose. We have no idea what we'll be settling on though - hopefully she'll make her decision well known when she gets here!

2. If you could meet anyone (living or from the past) who would it be?

I'm going to cheat again and say two people, I'd like to meet Jesus and Muhammad. I'd like to ask them how their religions today are or are not reflective of what they actually wanted them to be. I want to hear it from the source, not as mankind has interpreted it through the ages.

3. What is your biggest pet pieve?

Probably people who are needlessly inconsiderate of others. Does it really take that much effort to turn down your radio at a stop sign? Maybe everyone doesn't want to hear your favorite polka But I think the world would be a lot better off if we just took a second to think about how even our tiniest actions affect others.

Hanging out my clothes on the line to dry I'm not sure why, but it gives me a lot of pleasure.

2. Describe what your baby's first outfit looks like.

I don't know actually! (I assume you mean the coming home outfit?) My mom is buying that for her - so it will probably be all pink and girly. But if you mean the first thing I bought upon finding out I was pregnant? It was this little number - my husband wasn't home when I tested, so I ran out to get something to surprise him with and since we live in Texas, it was just too perfect.

3. What do you love MOST about your husband?

How much he loves me, and how every decision he makes is based upon what's in my (and our) best interest. Without a doubt, I'm his number one priority.

Chocolate chip cookies - also my favorite food to eat I make awesome cookies and I joke that they are the reason my husband married me. I also love love love to make bread, but as hot as it is here now, I can't bring myself to do it. The kitchen just gets way too hot.

2. Have you ever witnessed a birth?

I have not - Poppy's birth will be my first!

3. What qualities have you inherited from your father?

Stubbornness for sure. Also, my most favorite quality about my father is how when he believes something, he believes and lives it 100%. He's the most truthful person I know (he's a pastor, and in this day and age, preaching and living what you preach are often two different things). I hope I am like that - I hate the thought of being deceptive.

I hope she gets my compassion. I also hope (especially since she's a girl) she gets my appreciation of my self worth. I've been through rough times and doubted my looks, my weight, my abilities, etc, but never once I have I questioned my worth.

How many children do you want to have?

would you share your cc cookie recipe- pretty please?

It's the recipe on the back of the Nestle Toll House chips, but...I only use European butter (organic), organic free range eggs (they really do make a difference) and good quality bittersweet or dark chocolate chips. But the real secret, I add in a 1 teaspoon or so of cinnamon and a 1/4 teaspoon or so of nutmeg. The cinnamon and nutmeg just really set the flavor of the chocolate off so perfectly. Oh, and I always pull them out just before they are done - I love them soft in the middle.

Decorating style?

I don't really think I have an exact style - I love my modern furniture, but at the same time, I collect antique teacups and I love my sterling silver and crystal. I like to blend old and new I guess. We tend to just keep this quote in mind when decorating “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” William Morris

how did you find MDC?

I was on a mainstream board and they were talking about what someone said in the no circ forum and I came over here to see what the fuss was about and I haven't left
