As always - give this thread as much attention as you would want paid to your own.

1) Do you have any names that you love that your partner has vetoed?

2) Can you speak any other languages? Do you want to?

3) What is the best piece of parenting advice ever given to you?

What is your guilty pregnancy indulgence?

What is your strangest craving?

Do you have a parenting "role model"?

1) hmm, well not vetoed. But he doesn't like the name that I do. He hasn't really come up with an alternative and dd and I both are really stuck on the name I like. . so basically I think his "veto" has been vetoed

2) No, I can't speak a second or third language. I really wish I could, and have tried. . but basically all the Spanish I've ever really learned, I learned from Sesame Street as a little kid.

3) I'm not someone that's generally given any advice. . or maybe that I take all advice with a grain of sand? I can't really think of anything that has been directly told to me as advice. . .At least nothing that I've followed

1) pregnancy indulgence. . Well as someone who watches her blood sugar readings (I'm considered borderline GD). . but two things I indulge in a little more while pregnant (or at least that I want way more than usual) are sleep and showers.

2) Strangest craving. . .haven't had many. . last pregnancy it was for cabbage (particularly Saurkraut), this time it's probably cheese.

3) who do I most try to emulate in my parenting? Without a doubt it's the mother of my best friend when I was 8-10 years old. SHe is who I most try to be like in my interactions with my kids. . although I think I have a slightly harder time controling my Irish temper than she did.

My ideal birth is quiet and quick where everyone ends up healthy and happy. Ideally I hope to give birth without pitocin this time around, other than that hopefully very much like my other 2 births. . vaginal and otherwise non-medicated.

My birth plans. . a hospital birth with the OB that was at the birth of my DD and almost at the birth of my ds. I try to remember, "Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." Otherwise I get way to controling, and then disappointed.

1) favorite book. . Douglas Adams Hitchhiker Series.

2) Most types of music actually. Though I'm not a fan of pop or country (unless we're talking bluegrass). CD's in heavy rotation are Grateful Dead, Jimmy Cliff, Police, Beatles, White Stripes, Violent Femmes, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell. . .

3) Last movie I saw from beginning to end? I have a habit of falling asleep during movies and rarely see anything in the theater anymore with the exception of some kids movies. Last movie I watched at home was Kitt Kittredge, last grown up movie at home was. . Sicko. Last movie in the theater was Tales of Despereux and last grown up movie in the theater was. . oh, Across the Universe?

1) daisy, poppy, peony, lilac. . Do I have to pick one?

2) yes, I have a garden. . raised "square foot" garden. I've loved the few spring like days so that I can get things going this season.

3)Snap peas, beans, tomato, cucumbers. My daughter has somewhat killed my love of asparagus and this pregnancy the thought of broccoli is really unappealing.

1) I'm a SAHM, have been since the birth of my DD. When the times have been right I've looked for part-time work but nothing has panned out timing wise.

2) This pregnancy was unexpected *PERIOD* SO nothing is as expected

3) It's most like my first pregnancy. With the primary difficulties being fatigue and loss of patience.

3. This pregnancy, what has been your biggest challenge?
1) my greatest joy is lying in bed snuggled with everyone I love most. My 2 kids and DH.

2) I've talked about it with DD (she's 6 and knows the drill) with DS the most he gets is that there is a baby somewhere in my body (although when asked sometimes he will point to his own belly). We look at pictures of babies and talk to the babies we see out and about.

3) Biggest challenge. . is thinking about having another one. The 2 we have already seem to outnumber us. And nursing DS. . we're all but weaned and that makes me feel REALLY REALLY guilty. I hope he hangs on long enough to tandem for at least a little bit, if only to put a better end to our breastfeeding relationship.

1) both of my kids fell in love with the same board book (at about the same age). I don't even know where it came from. . .but it's called Funny Bunnies. The Sandra Boynton books are big hits, ds likes anything with a truck, train, boat or plane in it. DD is finally enjoying chapter books the Ivy and Bean series, Martin's The Doll People series, I read The Lion, the Withc and The Wardrobe to her and she enjoyed it (as did I). One of the family's favorite picture books is called The Shivers in the Fridge (very cool book)

2)Favorite parenting books. All the Sears books, of course. Pantley's No- Cry Sleep Solution. Most of my favorite parenting reading is Brain, Child magazine. . it's more literary than advice.

3) Traditions. . I like that most nights we sit down to supper as a family and talk about the day. Sunday mornings. I have stepping stones from the past 2 years with the kids hand prints in them. . we'll do another one in May (it's my Mother's Day present). Everything is just much more fun when you get to experience it again with a child. . .

1)I love our camping trips. . both before and after having kids. We use to go out to upstate New York a lot. .camping, driving up and down the Finger Lakes hitting all the wineries. I remember kayaking down the Saco when I was somewhat newly pregnant with dd. Our honeymoon was fun, relaxing on the Vineyard.

2) I pretty much like whatever season it currently is. . to a point. I love the snow of winter, the sun and rebirth of spring, swimming and feeling the wamr sun of summer, playing in leaves and nice walks in the crisp fall. The only thing I don't like is cold rain. . any season when it's cold and raining for too long and I get cranky

3) We're both pretty good at stepping in at just the right time, just before someone has gotten to the end of the rope. Sort of a good cop bad cop thing
If I'm about to lose my mind he can come in cool and rational. . and vice-versa. The few times when we both are close to the edge we do a good job of playing deaf. We try to touch base with each other a couple nights a week. . that's been difficult during this pregnancy because I've been falling asleep getting dd to bed. I'm the morning person and he's the night owl so touching base can be tricky. We both enjoy snuggling on the couch when everything is quiet. . amybe watching a little tv.

1) May 21st. . I'm a Gemini (as is my dh). I think there is something to be said about Astrology. . DH and I are really like 4 people sometimes

2) We have a black lab who is ten years old and a tank of tropical fish.

3) Go to the movies, by myself. Sit under a tree with a book and some music. Oh and have someone clean and declutter my house while I sat around reading. .
