1) Do you feel emotionally ready for this baby?

I'm totally ready for this baby. This was a planned pregnancy. My other pregnancy was not planned, and it took me by surprise. I actually have everything ready that would need to happen before I have a baby, so I feel relaxed and happy that I get to spend this time with dd!

2) Whats left on your to do list?

About a million and one things. I run a small farming deal, so the animals are taking up a lot of time. I just spent all of last week shearing the bunnies and getting everything cleaned for them. I've got a batch of meat chickens that are growing quickly and demanding more and more attention. They get butchered on June 13th, so I am excited about that.

A friend just came and stayed with us and did some of the housework that I can't do i.e. painting our deck, so I feel more calm about that.

3) Whats one thing you could have gone without this pregnancy?

Unisom! I have hyperemisis, and it is SO much worse this time than last time. Unisom has actually been a total remedy for me, and that is very good news! When I don't take it, I am completely debilitated for the entire day. Some people are not so lucky to have something that works so well.

How did you find MDC?

I have been reading Mothering since my dd was born. I spend time in the morning and evening reading blogs and things. Whenever I searched for something baby related, MDC was always the first thing that came up in Google! I was lucky enough to find a DDC to be a part of.

Do you have any particular cravings or aversions?

I can't eat flesh at all. I also spent a lot of time last summer making cheese and preserving food and butchering animals. I can't eat ANY of the things I made, they make me sick. It's made for an interesting year with DH!

What are your birth plans? home/hospital etc??

I'll have a birth center birth in Portland with an awesome midwife. It's a VBAC, so that is exciting! I'm the one that posted the link to my birth plans earlier.

Do you feel "ready" yet?

If only my to-do list would get done! I had a notebook I was carrying around with all kinds of things that had to be done, but I lost it recently, and I feel lost!

My DH is taking a trip for 3 days with DD leaving me alone for 4 days to get things done. I am excited, but I will totally miss my baby.

Do you know what your having?

We are having a little baby boy!

Do you have a name picked out?

We do have a name, but it is totally secret because I reserve the right to change it, and I don't want to be accountable!

What do you think will change most in your life when your LO arrives?

I am not looking forward to giving less attention to dd. I am a SAHM, and we have SO MUCH FUN TOGETHER. I just hope that I don't feel like I am neglecting her all the time. I have plans to totally include her in caring for the baby.

Would you like to have anymore LOs after this one?

I'd like to have 6 kids total, but making them myself seems to be problematic with the hyperemisis I've had with both pregnancies.

What is one thing you will do today to make yourself feel good?

I'm going to the tulip festival to take photos of my baby in the flowers. SO much fun. I actually managed to take a bath yesterday, shave my legs and clip my toenails.
I even got to go to my knitting ground and spend time with some friends!

1. What would be the perfect post-birth meal for you?

Ice Cream and Peanuts. Ok, that's not a meal, but I'd love to get some fried kalamari from the Greek restaurant.

2. What's your favorite book?

I love almost all books that I read, so I don't have a real favorite. I just picked up a fiction book the other day, which is the first time in a LONG time. I've been going to school for the last 6 years.

3. What are you most looking forward to about having your baby?

Not being pregnant anymore! This is rough. I just LOVE having another life join our family.

What is the climate like where you live?

I live in the Pacific Northwest. Rainy winters and sunny summers. I like it that way.

Are you planning on cloth diapering? If so, which diapers do you like best for a newborn?

I am a huge cloth diaper fanatic. I made all my own diapers this time. I have some newborn prefolds with snaps and fitteds with wool covers that I am looking forward to trying. I just need a baby to put in them!

What does a typical day in your life look like?

I am a SAHM, but I run a small farming thing. I wrestle animals and spend the rest of the time cooking and going to do fun activities in town with dd!

How do you (or do you) plan to keep yourself distracted during early labor?

I think I'll clean the house or try to sleep. That's what I did last time!

Do you have other children and if so, do you think they're ready for a sibling?

My DD is such a MAMA. I think she will be jealous sometimes, so I am going to try to include her as much as possible in caring for the baby. She tells me she will nurse the baby at night so I can sleep.

How many children do you think you'll have total?

I'd like 6, but I can't imagine not having a baby in my life. I'm going to have to be a grandma.

Do you babywear? If so, what carriers to you like for a newborn?

OF COURSE! I love my home made moby. I've got a home made pouch sling that is lovely as well as a home made Maya.

What would you like to do with your child/children when they are older?

I want to run a big farm with a CSA. It is a long way off, but I think that being connected to our food supply is the most beneficial thing I can impart.

What are you growing/raising on your farm?

What do you like most about living in Oregon?

Do you plan on homeschooling?

(Just have to add that I lived in Monmouth for years and then up in St. Helen's for a while and I miss it every single day!! I truly hope that we can move back someday. Such a great place to raise a family.

How did you meet your DH?

He was actually one of my high school teachers. He was a teaching assistant, and I spent the entire time dating someone else. When I graduated, I started working as the office manager at the school. I broke up with my other boyfriend, and started dating dh. What a stroke of luck.

What helped you the most during labor?

I spent a lot of time in the water. I did not want to be upright, it was too painful for me. Sadly, it all ended in a c-section. I'm hoping the water will help this time as well.

Did you have HG with your last pg? Has anything else been different?

I did have HG with my last pg with dd. It was actually more mild than this time. I was able to stop taking drugs and just deal with it around 22 weeks, but at 29 weeks now, I'm still sick and dependent on drugs

What are you growing/raising on your farm?

I had 2 milk goats that I just sold so that I could focus on being pregnant. I have 8 bunnies. Six of them are for wool and 2 of them I breed for meat. I've got some meat chickens and some laying hens. My family raises beef cattle. I am of course, never bored.

What do you like most about living in Oregon?

It looks like Ireland here. I love the pastoral setting and the courteous people.

Do you plan on homeschooling?

I will homeschool for a while, but at some point I will send the kids to private school.
