Ohhh! All kinds of thought provoking questions! (Loved the photos in the other thread, by the way, AmBam!) Let's see which I can answer now, and which I will need to think about!

How long have you been with your dh? We started dating almost seven years ago, and have been married for about 2 years and some odd change.

Do you have any fears for this labor/delivery? I just really want to catch my own baby. I hope I have the energy and positioning to do it!

Do you have names picked out for your baby? Yup! If a girl, she will be Gianna Maria C. If a boy, he will be Vincent John C.

What's a favorite childhood memory? Probably the time when I was about 8 when my mom got us out of bed at about 9 or 10 at night, got us all in our snowy winter gear, and we made a giant snow hill in the front yard in a giant snowstorm!

How many children do you wish to eventually have? We're not really sure yet. We definately want more than two, but we're going to take them as they come for now!

What has been your favorite part of this pregnancy? Probably feeling my little one move, and knowing what position the baby's been in based on instinct!

your least favorite? The morning sickness and food aversions!

Do you feel "ready" for the baby to come?? I think so! Every few days I mentally panic, and think, "Ahhh! Only X amount of weeks!" Then I calm down and look around, and think, "Hey! Only X amount of weeks! We can do this!"

What made you become a doula? That's a long one! I grew up listening to my mom and her sisters talking about their very poor birth experiences, and knew there had to be a better way. I was in college, in the Pre-Med program, and it still didn't feel right. One late night in the organic chem lab, after a lab professor told me I had a really good way of explaining lab procedures and should be a teacher, I gave that another look. I transferred all of my subjects to teaching the following semester, and while I loved it, I still felt something was missing. While teaching preschool after graduation, one of my aides was telling me that her mother had just completed doula training, and I felt- THAT'S IT!!! That was what else I needed. So, I ponied up some huge cash for a struggling grad who was in the not-so-lucrative field of early childhood education, and the rest is history!

If you were allowed to eat 3 things ONLY for the rest of your life what would they be? Oh man, this is tough. I'm such a foodie. Maybe parmesan cheese, chocolate, and home-grown tomatoes.

What are you passionate about? Lots of stuff! I could narrow it down to "quality." I'm hugely passionate about quality, and feel like if something's worth doing, it's worth doing the hell out of it! Quality birthing, quality education, quality cooking... you name it! All of my kindergartners talk about quality each and every day as a result!

How did you become active in birthing from a doula stand point? (haha Ashersmum beat me to that one!) I can still give an answer for this one! In terms of exactly how, I took Childbirth International courses!

Who is your fav movie star, male and female. Well... at best, I can tolerate stars. I despise most of Hollywood, and this is one I will need to really think about!

Do you watch TV? Sometimes! What is your fav show? The Office

Favorite ice cream flavor? Real Peach ice cream, not fake peach flavoring!

What is your favorite pregnancy/child rearing type book? (if you have one!) For pregnancy, I really like Kim Wildner's Mother's Intentions: How Beliefs Shape Birth. Babies, I like The Happiest Baby on the Block and the Sears Baby Book.

What is your favorite book (or books ) in general? Well, I really liked Time, Love, Memory by Jonathan Weiner (about genetics and fruit flies). I like to read the Bible, especially really old ones. I like a lot of what Tori Hayden wrote about her experiences with teaching alternative ed classes.

How do you see yourself parenting? Hopefully with flexibility, a sense of humor, and the knowledge that each day is a brand new day.

When did you and your Dh decide/ did you decide at all that you were ready to have a baby? We've sort of been ready for a while, but in the hectic-ness of moving from one state to another, and switching out jobs, we kept delaying it. Finally, when it was time, it just happened!

How did you tell Dh? I taped little clues all over the house that rhymed, and after he had worked all night, made him find them all! He found the positive test in his underwear drawer, and the first thing he said was, "Does this still have pee on it?" Then he hugged me. And promptly fell asleep!

What do you think you would be doing now or a year from now if you weren't preggo? Nursing school was next on my to-do list. I had applied to a nursing school, and was in the process of preparing to start classes in the fall when I got the BFP. I have plenty of time for that though, right now it's baby time!

Here are a few more questions Clara:

If you had a super power what would you want?

Toliet paper roll, tail down against the wall or tail up to come down closest to you?

And the question that has been nagging me since yesterday,
If you could have dinner with 5 people living or dead who would they be?

Ok, my question isn't nearly as deep or significant, but at any rate:

When did you get your dog? What's her name, and do you have any good pics of the cutie?

If you had a super power what would you want? Probably fly! Although there are occasions that I'd love to be able to vanish.

Toliet paper roll, tail down against the wall or tail up to come down closest to you? I never really look when I'm popping a new roll in! If I think about it though, probably tail against the wall- our holder is to the left of the toilet, and it gives the best leverage for a clean tear (without a stream of TP flopping all over!)

And the question that has been nagging me since yesterday,
If you could have dinner with 5 people living or dead who would they be? LOL! I knew you would ask this one, and I've been trying to think. Let's see- outside of typical family members, I'd love to have dinner with my grandmother (passed on when I was 6), my good friend Noreen (passed away when I was 19), and hmm. Who else? Ina May Gaskin would be a fun person to have to dinner. Martha Stewart, and Lidia Bastianich.

When did you get your dog? We adopted her last August or September (now I forget) from the Canine Companians Rescue group. She was picked up somewhere in Detroit as a small puppy and placed in a short term shelter. The CCR group got to the shelter before her time ran out and placed her in a foster home. We saw her cutie sassy face on PetFinder, and had to have her!

What's her name? The Rescue place named her Lavender, but we thought that was a bit much for a dog. We wanted to stick to something similar sounding, so we started calling her Lola-Lavender, and eventually just Lola. And so now, she's our little Lola!

Do you have any good pics of the cutie? Thousands! Here are a few good ones:

Here she was as a puppy, who was left alone with yarn for a little too long.

Here she is hanging out while we grill

Her first trip to a beach last weekend

She's such a neat dog! I never had a dog before, only cats, and I had no idea I was such a dog person.

Did you go to your prom? and if so, can you please describe your dress.
Yes! At first I wasn't going to go, but then I thought boycotting the prom was cliched. I found this great light blue strappy floor length dress with a lacy overlay on top at a local boutique, and dyed my hair apricot! Looks pretty silly looking back at photos. If I find a prom photo, I'll have to scan it!

Do you come from a small or large family? Brothers or sisters, and if so, how is your r/s with them? I consider it a medium family- I'm the oldest, and have a sister, and two brothers. We all have a really good relationship with one another, but it's hard to stay in touch. My sister lives in Pittsburgh, and my brothers live in NY. One of my brothers is being deployed to Iraq in Jan, unless something changes.

Being an educator, will you home school, public school, or private school your child? Right now we're thinking homeschool. If we move back to NY, I will need to examine the options again- if we can find an awesome charter school, or see something else we like, maybe that. For now, DH and I strongly want to HS.

Is this your first child (sorry, if I forgot!)? That's okay! Second pregnancy, first (please God!) full term baby. I miscarried at 8 weeks in 2000.

What do you picture your baby looking like? I'm not sure! At first I pictured a wild haired baby, but I keep dreaming about baldy babies. Dark eyes, and probably no hair for a while.

Are you a morning person or a night owl? I used to be a total morning person, but this baby has forced me to become a creature of the night!

What is the silliest thing you have ever done? Oh sheesh! I have to list just one? Well, besides accidentally slamming my own head in my car door at the post office in college (I leaned in to grab something I forgot, just as my other hand was slamming the door. It looked pretty ridiculous!), I pulled all kinds of silly stunts as a child. At about age 8, I convinced my little sister one day when we were playing that there was a burglar in the kitchen, and we had to evacuate via the window (one and a half stories off the ground). We were playing dress-up, so we both had on strappy shoes. We eventually realized the error of our ways, and I had to hoist her up to the window (which took ages) and she had to go through where the "burglar" was to unlock the kitchen door and let me in.

What was your favorite toy as a kid? I had a stuffed mouse named "Bitsy" that provided hours of creative fun- I made her a townhouse out of built-in cubbies in my closet, and pounds of paper and any kind of junk I could find!

Are you going to videotape the delivery? We do kind of want to, but we haven't bought a camcorder yet. I'm not sure we're going to get one in time- DH likes to take ages to research this kind of thing.

How did your dh propose since you dated for so long? Did you equally decide, or was it a surprise?
Well, we had been talking about marriage. He was looking for jobs, and some were out of state. We talked about getting married and me following him. I knew he had various interviews here and there, but he made them seem like long shots. On Dec 17th, 2004 I went to his apartment after work to chill and cook dinner. He was acting very manic and strange- he usually is very quiet and laid back (think a smaller-framed Silent Bob from Mall Rats). He was pacing all over, running up and down the stairs, and eventually he got on my last nerve (after teaching preschool all day). So, I told him I needed to run to the store, and headed to Wegmans to get some food. Came home, cooked, and while we were eating, he continued to act bizarre- tapping things, fidgiting, and in general being crazy. Finally he thumped his plate down, rushed over to the tiny 3 foot tall tree we put up, and shoved a little foil-wrapped box in my hands, saying, "You have to open this RIGHT NOW." It was awesome. I opened the box, looked at the ring...

And waited...

And waited...

Then asked, "Is this what I think it is?" He nodded, and I said, "Where are we going?" Turned out to be Illinois! We called our families and told them to prepare for a wedding. Which came five weeks later! We pulled off a pretty awesome wedding in that time, thanks to some friends, and some connections that hooked us up with wholesale flowers and a neat little reception inn.

What is your favorite food that was homemade when you were growing up? Oh man, was there a food I didn't like? Let's see- I really loved Chicken A'la King, but haven't made that myself, ever. Homemade peach pie was another good one.

What's the recipe? I'll post that later! Right now I need to put my feet up before we meet a friend for dinner- this baby's head down and I swear, grinding away at my pubic bone.

What type of extra curricular activities or hobbies do you enjoy? I love to cook, hike and camp, dabble a bit in gardening, crochet and sew (but that goes in jags- I'll do a ton of it, and suddenly do nothing for months!) I also like to travel, and take random classes here and there when community courses are offered at local colleges.

Do you plan on working after the baby is here? Yes/No. DH and I focused on planning it out so that I can stay home with our babies. Someday I'll go back to work, but for now, I'm going to do the homefront thing. I may do child care out of my home- I would only take on a couple so that I can stay focused on the important things, and I would want to offer my services to moms who need childcare but are having a hard time finding sites that are friendly to pumped milk and cloth diapers (a bunch of licensed centers in my area are absolutely anti-CD, and some are very unfriendly towards pumped milk and visiting BF moms.) As the baby grows older, I may start to take doula clients here and there again. It's hard to say- after this baby is born, we'll be thinking about when the next one should appear. We want our kids as close together as EBF will allow.

Do you have a garden? Sort of- we just moved here last summer, and we're trying to see what all comes up before we change things. We're already thinking of what we want to add. I also will be finishing my container garden soon, I hope!

What's your least favorite household chore? Probably tackling this freaking office. It's such a huge job, and I just want to throw everything out. DH doesn't want me to throw away his things, but he's not always here to give me a hand, so...

Thanks, guys! I've totally enjoyed the spotlight, and now I'll head out to create one for Nic!
