These threads are a way for us to get to know each other better . We'll spend 4 days asking a mama any questions we want and she has sworn on her unborn baby to answer everything! Just kidding !

If you're interested in being added to the list of mamas, send me a PM. I'm including all who have signed up so far, as well as their assigned dates. Please let me know if you'll be out of town, unavailable, etc., during your dates, and I can switch you around. I am skipping some time around (U.S.) Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years since many people will be traveling and/or busy with family, and participation will probably drop a lot.

I'll try to remember to link each person's name to their Spotlight thread, so we'll have a sort of archive.

Heh heh heh, it's finally MamaVolpe's turn. C'mon you guys! We've got to ask her some good questions! I have to get dd ready for bed, so I'll start with my standards .

How did you find MDC? My baby sister introduced me to the web site. She got pregnant first and now has a 8 month old little girl for my baby to play with. She is the greatest and makes beautiful babies.

If you're partnered, how did you meet your partner? I met my DH at Old Town Tavern, in Frederick, MD. I was out dancing with some of my girlfriends and he was sitting at the bar with his Corona. We kept checking each other out but he would not get his butt off of the stool to come dance with me, so I figured he was just looking but not really interested. At the end of the night when the bar was closing down he finally approached me and said "I thought we had a moment their?" I know how cheezy can you get. Anyhow after a bit of talking I finally agreed to give him my ph# and we started dating. I knew he was the one shortly after that. One of the dates he took me on with in the first month was skydiving. Yeah this is the man for me cheezy or not.

How did you end up living where you live? My DH was living in Hagerstown while going for his Masters in Shippensburg, PA and I was living in Frederick at the time. Once we got engaged we bought a house in Hagerstown not far from where his apartment was. It is a good location, close to both of our parents but far enough away that they don't visit all the time.

What has been the best thing about this pregnancy? Finally being pregnant! Now I get to do all the things that I have been doing for my sister but for myself now. Baby books, baby shopping, I can't wait for labor.

The worst? All the uncomfortable symptoms, nausua, weird food issues, insomnia, indigestion, the cost. Easy to overlook though with all the fun stuff to do.

I'm cracking up about your dh . It took weeks and weeks for my dh to make a move (and boy was I working hard to make sure I was at all the same places as him!), and it wasn't until his best friend threatened to make a move first that he finally got off his duff .

Skydiving, though. That rocks !

Yeah my DH hates that story. He would much rather me talk about all the cool stuff he has done than tell that story again. Normally he is not that cheezy. We have done a lot of fun thing together on vacations and stuff. We've gone swimming with manta rays, gone gem hunting in Hiddenite, NC, gone up in one of those propless planes over Acadia National Park, and gambeling in Las Vegas. He is lots of fun when he is not working.

Here are my standard questions; it's been fun to see all the various answers!

If you could choose the superpower of invisibility or flying, which would you choose and why? I would go for invisibility as it is much more practical. I think flying could be quite a cold adventure at times as well as it would be hard to fly really high due to lack of oxogyen. Invisibility has much more versatility and I can think of quite a few thing I could have fun with it.

What is your favorite kind of music and/or favorite song?I love the Beach Boys and Jimmy Buffet as well as Celtic music. I listen to just about everyting though. I like classical, zydaco, regge, blues, country, swing, most anything I can dance to. The only music I don't like is techno, its not real music just unga chunga unga chunga, can't dance to it.

What was your favorite movie as a teen and what is your favorite movie now? Fave movie as a teen was Anne of Green Gables, I could quote the whole movie to you, both of them. It's still one of my favs but I also love comedys like Hitchikers Guide, and Evolution. I love a good laugh.

What was your favorite book as a child, as an adult?Again favorite book is anything by LM Montgomery, the Anne books, the Emily books, a Tangled Web, the Blue Castle, etc... She is still one of my fave authors but I also like, Jacequline Cary's, Michael Chrichton, Dan Brown, Ina May, J K Rowlings. I can't pick just one book, I have to have them all!!!!!!!

what do you want for christmas? All I want for Christmas is a dishwasher, we are remodeling our kitchen and I want one soo bad. As for a less practical gift I would love a 90 min full body massage.

what's your favorite christmas movie?I always love the kids movies. My faves being the Grinch with Jim Carey and the Charlie Brown Chrismas.

what's your favorite christmas tradition?I love the Christmas stockings, just having a sock full of little gifts to play with, what a great idea. That and making Gingerbread houses. My parent made a really cool one that matched their house one year.

what are you getting DH for christmas?I am not sure yet, he loves his Xbox360 so maybe what ever is the latest cool game to play, or he has always wanted to get his car windows tinted so I am thinking maybe I will do that for him. I don't know yet really.

What's the most recent new skill you acquired? The last class I took was at the Omega Institute in New York where I took classes with David Morehouse on Remote Viewing. Way cool, and very fun.

If you had more time, what new thing would you like to learn? I want to learn to scuba dive, unfortunatly I don't think they will let you while you are pregnant. Go some where exoctic and scuba, like the Great Barrier Reif or somewhere warm in the Carabbiean. Yeah the cold winter is starting to get to me, I want warm sand and water. Time for a hot bath and some Jimmy Buffet.

Why?It's hard to pick just one but I would probably pick Hawaii. I spent three months there once and just partied, took classes, toured the island and learned to surf. I love the warm climate places and I was so relaxed and just had a blast there.

Location you would like to travel to? Why? Rwanda, Africa as soon as they all stop killing each other. That is where my dad grew up and my bedtime stories were always about Rwanda and elephants and all the trouble my dad got into as a kid out there. I am just dying to go out there as soon as it is safe.

If you could have any car ever made which one would you drive? It's a toss up between two, a Smart Car, the cutest car you have ever seen. It's just my holiday.

What is your favorite game to play? Flashlight Tag, it is a cross between Tag and Hide and Go Seek but played in the dark with flashlights and you can rescue people. I haven't played it in forever though. They must include their induction methods and frequency, C-section, and vaginal births, episomoties and what degree, tears and what degree, breastfeeding rates, mortality for mom and baby, and all other similar type stats. This info would be available to all, both paitents, insurance co, malpractice insrance co, and for gathering info on the countries statistics. Just imaging how some one would shop for their provider if they knew all this info before even meeting their provider. I can see a lot of changes being made with this info availble to all. Anybody know how to get this law passed? or even introduced?

If you were and alien from outer space what would you look like? Definately no fur as Venus it too hot for that. Something smooth but not slimey in the skin department, And I like crazy colors so I would go for Orange skin with Lime green polka dots.

Also what planet would you be from? Venus, I love the warm tempratures and then I would be close enough to Earth to visit all my Earth Alien friends.

If you could redesign the human body to function differently what one change would you most want to make? How about a pelvis that could open up like a snakes jaws, but instead of swallowing animals 10x my size I could birth out a whole toddler with no complications. That sounds good about now.

What is your favorite music to dance too? Country, Swing, Latin, most anything but Techno.

Beer, Wine, Liquor or Teetoler? Dry Red Red Wine, or Rum and Tequila in some kind of fruity drink. Everything would smell good, taste good, sound good, look good, feel good. It would be 40 weeks of pure bliss, except the world would become vastly overpopulated really fast. Everyone would want to be preggers.

Do you play and instruments? Also I have always wanted to try out purring, it sound so nice.

I was in Rwanda pretty much this time last year! I had an awesome trip. It's fairly stable there now I think - the UK Foreign Office advises avoiding the border areas with the DRC & Burundi but otherwise declares it safe for British nationals.

Cool, I will have to start planning a trip soon. My dads village was pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. He also has some friends who are still in Africa but a different country, I would love to hang out with. Time to start planning. My only problem now is the only words I know in Swahili are all the bad ones because they are the only ones my dad remembered. I guess I should learn some new ones before I get there.
