<p>I live in Los Angeles!  I really love it here for a lot of reasons.  Sure the traffic can make anyone crazy, and the price of living is high (that part might be the part that makes us leave some day).  But ever since I moved here 11 years ago, I have felt so at home.  I originally grew up in Texas, but I don't think of it as home. It's just different here.  There are nice people, beautiful palm trees, the weather is always nice, people always look really nice, you see lots of smiles, lots of people walking dogs, there are plenty of places to be outdoors and go hiking, even though it's a busy city too.  And the ocean is like *right there*, which is super awesome!</p>

<p>Reading the spotlights is just fun, because you get more of a glimpse into people.  I've always loved people and their stories, their inner thoughts, the process of getting to know people.  I have loved blogs for a long time because of the interesting stories people have.  And it's just fun getting to see more of people than quick comments in threads, you know?</p>

<p>that's so cool, i moved from texas to la in 2001, so cali is definitely home to me too now! i lived in venice/marina del rey until 3 years ago when i moved inland to lake elsinore...what part of la are you in? i do miss being right at the ocean...and the great restaurants! but we're not that far!</p>

<p>That's totally awesome that you're another TX - to - CA person!  I live near Venice/Santa Monica area, not too far from the ocean.  <span><img alt="smile.gif" src="http://files.mothering.com/images/smilies/smile.gif"></span></p>

<p><span>I feel SO happy about having my first baby!  I'm a little nervous, mostly because I know life will change in big ways.  I keep thinking ahead to that and wondering how we'll adjust, and then I just remember that we just will.  We'll do what we gotta do, you know?  I am trying not to jump too far ahead or get too scared/overwhelmed.  I've wanted to have babies for a few years now, and could not be happier that I'm about to have my first.  I'm really looking forward to meeting this little guy who's been bouncing around inside me!</span></p>
