When are you due?
April 25th

How have you been feeling so far?
Fat. I gained 20 pounds in 20 weeks and I am not myself. I was sick for the first four months and ate food to feel better. I'm still eating...

Are you having any cravings or aversions?
I am finally back to my normal toothpaste.

Where did you grow up?
Parsippany, NJ

Where do you live now?
Yorktown Heights, NY

Do you have siblings?
Two younger brothers.

How did you find MDC?
I gurgled something about pregnancy in the early weeks and stumbled on it.

How has it influenced your decisions for pregnancy/birth/parenting?
My decisions have remained the same, but it has been really nice to find people with similar feelings, scenarios and philosophies. I have essentially no "mommy" friends (which is fine by me), so it's nice to have an outlet for these topics.

What are you most excited about for this pregnancy and baby?
My husband is very excited to be a dad, which is thrilling for me, and I am very hopeful to be able to teach my child everything I know. I can't wait to be challenged by it and to further my marriage accordingly.

Bumping your spotlight
(and stealing wobblykate's usual question)

Are you crafty? Do you plan to make anything for the baby? If not, is there anything special that you plan to buy?

Are you crafty?
I am crafty, but it's more functional crafty than artistic. I'm not into sewing of any kind, but I enjoy building things. I have some artisitc ability when it comes to photography, painting or drawing, but generaly my contructs involve tools from the garage.

Do you plan to make anything for the baby?
I will be attempting to design a changing table that folds up onto the wall and displays art (the underside of the table) when not in use. The art might include a photo collage that can change over time so as not to have to remove the changing table from the wall until much later. I like the idea of temporary functionality that I don't have to store someplace else. I also enjoy over-engineering things once in a while, for effect. I don't plan on creating anything else specifically for the baby (aside from refinishing a dresser), so this will be an interesting project.

Thanks for the bump! I've always been the homecoming queen of popularity.

I think the thread just got lost! Sorry! Maybe you could figure out how to make the changing table double as a desk for the child when s/he gets older? A fold down desk would make them the coolest kid on the block!!

Do your brothers have kids? Will this baby have cousins close by?

Is it cold in NY? What are you managing for a winter jacket?

No worries -- I had no expectations of responding to hundreds of fans.

Thanks for asking!

Nice idea. We'll have to see just how much of a contraption it turns out to be. I like the desk idea -- can't really leave crap on it if it gets folded away after use.

My brothers each have two children ranging from ages eight to two.

Will this baby have cousins close by?
Unfortunately, not. I am in NY, they are in IN and DE. They kindof moved away from the area our family is from in NJ. I am somewhat isolated from most of my family, although within a couple hours of some.

Is it cold in NY?
<20 degrees F right now. Based on that, I would say: Yes.

My wool coat still fits, for now (albeit somewhat snugly), and my best friend just found her old ski jacket that has plenty of room in it. She has lent me a lot of clothing that doesn't fit her anymore, but that fits me very well right now. I cannot fit into ANY of my normal clothing at this point -- although I can still wear my pajamas since they are still somewhat comfortable at the moment. My belly popped out almost immediately within the first two months, and I have been having trouble with my clothing ever since. Thank goodness for my wool coat being just roomy enough! I hope it makes it through the winter... debatable! (PS: I really miss my GAP jeans. A lot.)

Do you have any favorite books you plan to read with your child (I mean both children's books like Dr. Suess and longer books like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)?

Do you have any special interests or skills you hope to share with your child (like, I plan to teach my kids to ski/ snowboard)?

I will likely share books written by my best friend who works at Reader's Digest Children's Publishing (including Fisher Price, Sesame Street, etc.) and as for longer books I have no plans. I'm sure the list will grow very quickly. I am not an avid reader myself, so I need to make sure this aspect of parenting is pursued.

All sports, anything technology/computers, musical instruments, tinkering with mechanics and tools -- all things I do and can't wait to share.

Thanks for asking!

If you had to give up a favorite food, which would be the most difficult to give up?

What is one food you'd never want to taste again?

If you could transport yourself anywhere instantly, where would you go and why?

What is one item that you really should throw away, but probably never will?

Contrary to my most recent eating habits (thanks a lot baby Peanut), I am not a big fan of eating. When I do eat, I enjoy gourmet food, but generally I find eating to be a waste of time. If I do have to pick one thing, though, it would be cheese of any kind. Mmmmm...

I'll eat anything. I don't have aversions to any type of food.

I would go to my delivery so I can be done with this whole pregnancy thing. Not a fan!
(time is flying however, I should be happy about that)

Junior high school t-shirts that are in a box in the attic. I'm not sure what the point is in keeping them. I guess I'll let Peanut wear them some day and that'll be that.

Have you ever had gammelost? It's the most disgusting cheese I've ever tasted in my entire life. It's scandanavian and the word actually means "old cheese." It tastes like a mixture between dried mold and a dirt trisquit.

Sounds like a type of bleu cheese. I'm game...

I'll warn you that it's a rather crunchy cheese.

You'll have to drink something to get that taste out of your mouth. Mouthwash? That might be good to have on hand.
