Thanks, Artsy!
What are you craving?
Hmm, no real cravings, but I do occasionally find myself unable to resist eating a half-pint of Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby ice cream. Right to the hips, it goes. Appetite is sporadic - baby is squishing my stomach.

How are you feeling?
Knock on wood, I've finally been feeling pretty good! I was sick until about 18 weeks, and was promptly knocked flat by a cold, better for a couple weeks, then down again with a sinus infection for 3 weeks. Now - feeling good! Lots of energy (well, "lots" is a relative term!), wanting to nest, nest, nest!

Guilty pleasure?
Lying in bed reading for 15 minutes in the morning once DH takes DD downstairs for breakfast. I crave the alone time - not working, not helping DH stay on an even keel, not getting climbed on by an active 2 yo.

What is the most delicious thing you cook?

What personality traits from yourself and DH are you happy to pass on to your children. Which, if any, would you prefer they don't inherit?

and my favourite fun question...who is your celebrity crush?!

What is the most delicious thing you cook?
This is pretty subjective, but I make a flourless chocolate cake for dinner parties. It's really easy to cook, and gets rave reviews all around.

I also make a mean pizza (we are almost entirely from-scratch cookers.).

What personality traits from yourself and DH are you happy to pass on to your children.
From me: optimisim
From DH: focus, energy to get work on a task until it's done!
From both of us: self-confidence

Which, if any, would you prefer they don't inherit?
Stubbornness (both of us!), pigheadedness
Arrogance (both of us)
Pessimsim (DH)
Flakiness (me)
(did I mention we are a family of redheads? poor kids - they are doomed!)

and my favourite fun question...who is your celebrity crush?!
Hmm...well, I recently realize that one of DH's close friends looks a lot like Brad Pitt - no joke! - so there's one. I still think Johnny Depp is beautiful, even if he's insane.

How old is your DD now and do you think she 'gets' that she is about to be a big sister? How do you think she'll react?

As a fellow (well, originally) Vermonter, I was going to ask the same thing!

So I'll go for my usual: 2 Truths & a Lie?

DD is...26 months now. She gets the idea of having a baby around, a little bit. She is fascinated with other babies, and she talks a lot about the things that she did when she was a, "tiny tiny little baby". Sleeping in a pack 'n play, didn't know how to eat food, only ate mama milk, etc. We have spent a bunch of time looking at pictures from her wee days...so I think she "gets" it as much as a 26-month old without siblings can get it.

I think it will be a tough transition for her, though. She's pretty stubborn (see previous post about redheads), and she is VERY attached to her mama. I think seeing the baby nurse will be the hardest - I had to wean her when i was about 12 or 15 weeks pregnant, and she STILL talks about nursing.

What do you love about where you live?
Oh, we're so very lucky! We live in a gorgeous state, in beautiful mountains. I love living rurally - although I miss the convenience & environmental responsibility of living in a city.

I love that neighbors take care of each other, even if they are strangers with completely different values.

I love that I feel like I"m driving in a postcard just about everywhere.

I love that there is such easy access to outdoor activities - hiking, skiing, etc.

I love that I can eat a fairly high percentage of local food all year 'round - and can trust that it's being raised using fair, responsible practices.

I could go on....

2 Truths & a Lie?
Despite my current staid lifestyle, I used to be a person of great spontaneity - particularly about life's major decisions.

I modeled (nude) for art classes in college.

I have only been arrested once.

What does your family do on weekends?
Depends on the season. Gardening, outdoor work (we live on 20 acres so there is always a lot to do!). Making maple syrup, hiking (less than we used to), x-country skiing (ditto). Hanging out with friends. Pretty boring life - but we like it!

What's your favorite vacation spot?
HAHAHAHAHAHAH! Oh, wait. Vacation? What's that?

Umm...love going to Jamaica, but that's so far in the future that I'm trying to forget about it. We have access to a family home there.
Probably camping in North Truro, Cape Code.
Also love visiting the SF Bay Area. We lived there for a while, and it's so much fun to go back.
Backpacking in the Sierras.

Notice I don't have many family-friendly spots on here? 'cause we haven't been on vacation in 2 years!

Welsh - good guess! But I haven't actually been arrested, ever. This was on my mind b/c I came across a news article from college that named a crew of us that had been arrested. I got a good laugh out of it - we were up to usual college hijinks (secret society hijinks), but they only came and took down our names. Had the same thing happen in high school a few times (when cops busted up parties), and once at a Greenpeace rally - but never arrested.

Boring, eh?
