okay Velveeta- here is your thread, this is your week!

1. What kind of birth are you planning?

home birth (our third) this time, I am trying for hypnosis. It irritates me when people tell me that I am brave for home birth or natural childbirth -- I hate pain. I do enjoy the amnesia associated with birth. I am actually kind of psyched about it!

2. What has been the hardest thing about this pregnancy so far?

constant nausea and vomiting. Maybe it will get better? I am 14 + weeks, so we'll see.

3. The easiest?

not feeling at all embarrassed about how huge I got really fast -- overnight, even! Also, I am much more confident about caring for the baby -- this baby will be my third!

4. What do you do in a typical day?

Wow. Try to imagine doing absolutely nothing, and then take it down a notch.
Actually, I have gotten a little better. I feel better day by day, and I am so happy not to have heartburn! knock wood, but I am also taking raw apple cider vinegar a couple times per day.

5. If somebody gave you $1,000 dollars- what would you spend it on?

OOOOhhhhhh! boring, but I would spend it on a built it bookshelf for our living room. Swanky!

6. Where is your dream vacation?

I am going to be totally honest... I really love visiting Disney World! We have actually travelled to some very unusual locations, but my favorite is Disney World!

Hi Velveeta

Hi!!

1. I have to ask, are you named after the cheese? I love your name!

Thank you! I did name myself after velveeta cheese. Because I do love regular cheese, but I thought a real processed name was funny, and I try not to be too serious about anything, even my all-natural-ness.
And every time I see it, I laugh!

2. Where are you from?

I am from Texas, but living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. My older boy is a 5th generation Texan. Texans are crazy, and all they talk about is Texas. Check my posts from now on. I can't shut up about it.

3. What do you like to do in your spare time?

Ah, spare time, what a concept.
I actually loooove TV, but don't get to watch very much. Maybe that's my fave thing about this pregnancy -- I feel crappy, so I watch TV in bed. Also, I love knitting and snuggling with my family.

4. Favorite dessert?

Tiramisu!

Hi!

Daniel, who is 6 is on and off excited; mainly excited, I think! Peter who is 2 1/2 just wants to be sure that no one is going to take his nonnie (nurse). Whenever Daniel talks about the baby, Peter says, "The baby can have *this* nonnie." OK. Peter.

Daniel is sure this is a baby sister, and I can't remember what name he wanted. It was cute and normal. I will post when I ask him tomorrow!

Wow! I never really thought about it like that. It's funny! Babies are just so little and easy, so I figure I will wear baby most of the time, and my DH will carry Peter, and Daniel is on his own.

Just kidding, Daniel is actually my high-needs boy, and Peter is so mellow and easy. I am sure we will just do some kind of round robin where the big boys have to take more turns being held. Daniel is 44 pounds so we don't hold him all the time anyway. My DH did have to walk him to sleep tonight, though.

Hi there!

-well, you never can tell!
But, we will try very hard to avoid pregnancy after this. It is just so hard on my with the insane nausea. :puke

- My favorite thing about labor is the pushing phase (stage 2, if you will) because the worst pain is over, and that part is normally super short for me (2-5 minutes), and then I have a BABY! I even say over and over, I want my baby, I want my baby. And of course, my most favoritest is holding my baby for the first time, and seeing the gender and helping him nurse. I looooooooove birth! It makes you feel like a superhero!

-My least favorite part is actually not the pain -- it is the vomiting! (are you noticing a theme here?) I feel so powerless when I vomit, and I do it so often! I will be the first person to need to go to therapy for too much vomiting!

-fave food and drink? hmmmmmm. food is probably chinese-style bok choy -- I have eaten not-to-be-believed quantities of this. and to drink? Orangina! I love it!

-Believe it or not, it was my dog, who suffered from vaccinosis, and I switched him to a crazy raw foods diet, and sort of went from there. It wasn't too far of a stretch, my mother was a LLL Leader, and a Lamaze instructor. So, there was a whole lotta nursin' goin' on.

-no, no tattoos. I always like to imagine tattoos, though, and of course, I enjoy TV programs about tattoos!

- fave book right now is Wicked by Gregory McGuire "The Untold Story of the Wicked Witch of the West." I really love the musical based on it, "Wicked." Great music. My kids and I are super into singing and music.

-Ah Texas! Not to be too corny, but I miss the beautiful highways, and wide open spaces. And of course (sniff!) the bluebonnets in the spring. I hope you appreciate those. And get some pictures of your kids in the bluebonnets, for goodness' sake!

-Scariest parenting moment: last year, Peter swallowed a penny, and it got stuck in his esophagus -- it was at the top, and it could have flipped, and blocked his trachea. It was HORRIBLE. He was only 18 months old, and he wasn't allowed to nurse. I hated telling him no while he cried and cried. And then, he became too weak to cry. We had to wait about 8 hours for a surgeon to become available. Finally, he went into surgery, just an endoscopy, but the procedure itself has awful risks, not to mention the risk of anesthesia. When they took Peter away I cried and cried. But, the anesthesiologist assured me he would treat Peter as if he were his own son, which really helped. Those pediatric surgeons were so wonderful. Then when he came out, he was fine, but so weak, and hooked up to tons of wires. I was SO grateful to be able to hold him and nurse him. After about 30 minutes of nursing, he was acting like his old self. Just really tired, and of course, DH and I were exhausted, too.

No laughing! I am very sincere, and most people who know me in real life have no idea the kind of TV shows I like.

FAVORITE, most fave is "Ghost Whisperer." Love it! I am into most anything super natural, especially if it grooves with my own beliefs, as GW does. I also looove "Mystery Diagnosis" on Discovery Health. And "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant." I mean, the name says it all! Risks aside, how awesome would that be?! I have so much discomfort and sickness in pregnancy, but I do rock the birth, so that would be perfect for me!

Also, I love most shows on HGTV. Oh, and I almost forgot -- I love "You are What You Eat." It is a British show about radically changing the diets of obese people. They always look good at the end b/c the food is insanely healthy. The host, Gillian McKeith prepares a "beastly feast" of all the gross stuff the person eats in a week on one table. It is always sure to be so nasty! I love it. But, the best is when the person gets a colonic to "clean out the poo". Great!

4. What's something you're super proud of?
1. feeling healthy (not nauseated), and doing something outside in the cool weather like taking the kids to the zoo.

2. I am embarrassed to say that I eat lots of bad stuff right now b/c of nausea. The weird thing that I keep saying is that I never usually do this! I am really a healthy eater, like a wheat-grass juicing kind of gal most the time. Why am I eating candies, and washing them down with Orangina?
I am trying harder every day, especially the days that I feel better.

3. Moonstruck / The Beatles / The Red Tent (it is actually my fave childbirth read!)

4. I survived a really tough childhood of sexual and physical abuse, and I went through years of therapy (still go sometimes), and I feel really normal, and well-adjusted. Plus, I am proud that an expert in these matters told me that it is supposed to be challenging for survivors to give birth and breastfeed and so, and that she was really proud of my home births and all that.
