My LP is all screwed up. It has been for 7 months now. But the past few months, I have started spotting around 5 - 6 DPO and will spot consistently every single day up until my actual heavy flow period starts after anywhere from a 10-12ish day LP. The first 1 or 2 days of the spotting, it is very very light, like you can only see it on the TP. But then it gets progressively heavier, though it's still pretty light up until I actually start my period.

Has anyone had this problem before & been treated for it?? I'm just curious on what, if any, treatment is the best to help this type of situation? I'm going to my OB next week to see if she will help. I went to a midwife I had never been to a couple months ago & she didn't want to even talk about anything until I had made it to the 1 year TTC mark, even though there's obviously a problem.

I think that may be a sign of low progesterone, there may be a couple of people on here that have experienced this. I would talk to the Dr about it and maybe have your hormonal levels checked.
Hopefully someone else can give you more knowledgeable advice. Good luck!

Yep I think that maybe right. How long is your LP? I would see a different practitioner. I have had great results seeing an acupuncturist and taking Chinese herbs with balancing my cycle I highly recommend it.

let me just add that I think when you have an obvious issue it is poor advice for your midwife to tell you to wait until you hit the year mark. Having spotting like that for that long is not normal and having you wait to find out why is just wasting time. Waiting a year is for people who have no irregular issues who know they are ovulating etc...

Yes this sounds like low progesterone which can be easily remedied. A luteal phase under 10 days is considered abnormal as it has insufficient time to develop a strong uterine lining capable of supporting and sustaining a healthy pregnancy. I have had much success taking B6 (100mg every day) which will help to lengthen your LP naturally. It may take a while however (usually a month or two to notice a difference). Good luck.

I have experienced this before and each time I wonder if I'm pregnant- its a roller coaster ride. I just finished a cycle that resulted in the exact same symptoms as you, quite disconcerting. I did some research and discovered that it may be a progesterone issue. So I am be going to a CNM to get my hormone levels checked. DH and I are talking about TTC in very near future, so I feel that for me, using herbs (I'll look into the acupuncture) to remedy my hormonal deficiency.

Side note: Midwives (the DEM kind) are not trained to help with well-woman care beyond the 6 week postpartum mark- at least, that's how our DEM's are mandated in AK. So, I wonder if that was the case. If not, I agree with massageinmommy that she gave you poor advice. How is a gal to TTC if her cycle is all whacked? Good call in seeing an OB, they are specifically and highly trained to help you.

I hope your situation improves, I'm with you on this one.
