Anyone else having any spotting at this time? I am 5 and a half weeks, and am having some slight spotting. It is not heavy enough to stain my underwear, I just notice it mixed in the discharge on the toilet paper when I wipe. It happened on Friday, and I have it again today. I don't have any cramping to speak of, so I don't feel that it is necessarily a terrible sign, but it is just so hard to not worry at all.
I had some of the same with my first, at around this same time, too, so I should probably take that as a sign that it is just something that my body does in the 5th week of pregnancy and not worry, but I know it is too late to be implantation spotting, and I am out of town visiting my in-laws so I think I am just freaking out because of not being near any trusted professional and not wanting to even THINK about loosing this baby!
Did anyone else have this? Does anyone else know much about what is normal in therms of first trimester spotting?
THANKS!!!!
Emily

Some pregnancies, you may spot all the time. Others, hardly at all. I'd hang in there until you get back to town, and then go and see your doctor and see what's going on. I do think it's too soon to panic though.

Let me add that we made it back in town late last night, so I am home, and that is helping me be more rational and less fearful, but I still would love any support/advice regarding spotting. Any of you who did, how was it and did things go alright? I have had a teensy bit of cramping, but nothing major, so I don't know how important that is. Also, DS is still nursing about 3 times a day, so I don't know if that is the issue or not.

If it's only on the TP when you wipe, you can be assured that there is very little blood.... Blood can be found when wiping after sex, since that activity can irritate the cervix. It can also be there just as a natural event. If the color is brownish, it's older blood, which is a good sign. If all you're seeing is a slight discoloration on the TP, I'm sure you're fine. Check in with your OB or Midwife soon for your own peace of mind, but you're probably just fine!

Thanks so much for the support, mindi22! It is red, not brown, which is probably part of why I am having trouble relaxing about it, but it is just on the TP, so thanks for helping me to keep the amount in perspective!!

I have been spotting red & brown for about a week now. I actualy went to see my careprovider and they did a quick u/s and they saw a sac that measured where it should have. I went for a BETA and a followup one today so now I just have to wait.

OMG, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I hadn't gotten many replies to the thread at first, and so I was even more worried, thinking that no one else had any spotting experience. It helps so much to hear that I am not the only one, and that it can just happen normally sometimes!

Mine is still happening on and off, but my care provider didn't seem too concerned. I am going in tomorrow for my first visit, and we'll see how things look then.

Again, THANKS mamas for replying!!

I woke up this morning and had some spotting. I actually had to wear a liner it wasn't just on the TP
But it wasn't much and I already had an appointment this afternoon.
They did a US to date this pregnancy and everything looked good... so spotting can be completely normal.

ALSO
When I was about 9 weeks with my first I was out to eat with my family and actually had a small gush.
I freaked out and it being my first and not knowing ANYTHING about pregnancy I went to the ER.
The baby was fine. The blood was from my low lying placenta.
The placenta moved like it normally does and everything was fine.

So although a little blood can be a freaky thing to a newly pregnant woman... it doesn't always mean the worst.
