Is anyone here acquainted with Springfield, IL, at all? We'll be moving there this ummer and would love to get a feel for any LLL or family docs willing to work with selective/delayed vax and vbac. If you know areas to live or such that'd be swell too. Much, much thanks!

I don't have much to add on the subject. I only lived there for 2 years and that was 10 years ago. I really liked living there. We first lived in an apartment in the downtown area. Then, we moved to Walnut street. (I think it was close to Walnut and South Grand) I have trouble remembering street names. I loved that neighborhood. Lots of big old houses and huge trees that look gorgeous in the fall. I miss taking walks in that neighborhood. The west side is very suburban. The central area is more rich in character.

I don't know much more about doctors. There was a really good yoga center in town that I used to go to called Namaste. The people there might know more. The Vegetarian Society has some nice people in it, too.

Thank you for directing me to the Veg Society. I emailed them and am waiting to hear back.

I'm just hopeful of doing a vbac and of finding a respectful family doc or pedi. If anyone here lives in that area, please let me know!

hey! I just moved to the area 6 months ago and I LOVE our ped! Her name is Jennifer Richards she works at the Springfield clinic. Shes completely ok with delayed/selective vax and her staff is amazing. I would call and see if she has any openings for new patients.

Gah! Can't believe the notifications didn't let me know you'd written way back then.
I actually ended up going with Misty Phillips and really like her. Didn't press h1n1 or flu shot at all, no problems with selective/delayed vax or XBF, so

I take my son to the SIU Pediatric Clinic. They don't give much fuss about shots. I refuse some of them and insist that they don't have the thimeserol or preservatives in them. Often times they tell me that they are out, but the just reschedule me to come back in and tell me when they will be getting more in. They don't really look at me like I am nuts or argue with me about it.
