So I am having a phone interview with SSI this afternoon. For some reason I am very nervous about it. I just don't know what to expect. All the paperwork was submited online.

Keep your fingers crossed.

It should be painless. I think it was our easiest interatction with SSI.

I did my interview for both kids in person, and the interviewer was so nice and it was totally painless. It'll be fine. Good luck.

I was suprised how strict the financial requirements are though, as a family of 4 making less then 200% FPV we would have been turned down automatically if I hadn't been applying for both kids.

I had the phone interview recently. She just went over basics.
She didn't say how long it would be before I would be notified whether he's accepted or not. Didn't say how much the payment would be. Didn't tell me the financial requirements, either. She was quite pleasant though.

How did yours go?

How did it go?

Does anyone have a spend-down? I think we MAY qualify with a spend down. We need to. Our med bills are topping out at $40K a year AFTER private health insurance.

How did the interview go? When DS got SSI, I never even walked into the local Social Security office. I did everything by phone/mail/Internet. It was more convenient for me.

The interview lasted 35 minutes and then she said, we don't qualify because my husband makes too much money. I am so pissed! I hate this. We are caught in the middle. My husband makes too much money, yet we struggle to pay all our bills and medical bills. Like last week I paid over $1400 in medical bills. And we aren't caught up.

We are in the same boat. They need to take into consideration outgoing expenses compared to incoming expenses. I think that some states do....does anyone know?? Maybe I need to move to that state! LOL!
