I did for almost two years (2002-2004) and I loved it! At first it felt WAY out there, but really it was not so bad. It was great to be able to walk to the grocery store, library, park, and post office. There are some kind of sketchy pockets though, so I would ckeck out the specific house/apartment area first. But there are lots of great places as well.

I went to UP just down the road from St Johns. Yeah, I'd totally live there. I agree with the PP that there are definitely some sketchy pockets, but all in all I think it's really coming into its own. Good food, good housing prices, etc etc...
