Anyone with a copy of Hales handy? I'm considering taking St Johns Wart to help with a particularly bad season of SAD (seasonal depression), but it seems I've heard that St Johns Wart isn't compatible with BF. Since my mind is somewhat befuddled lately I'm not sure if I realy heard that or not. Any thoughts?

In case it helps to have this info when advising on the topic, I'm nursing a 2 year old, so not a tiny baby.

Thanks!

I don't have a copy, sorry ... but I've read that 5HTP is better for nursing mothers. Unfortunately it's a lot more expensive. If you do a search in Postpartum Depression you'll find lots of info on it.

Good luck - I hope you find something which works for you.

No Hales, but I did some pubmedding recently and got nowhere - I could find only rat research, and not much of that, so I'll be interested to hear, too.

I suspect it won't be worth the risk - it's a pretty serious drug.

(and FYI, it's spelt St John's Wort. Wort as in green plant)
