Just wondering if there are any MDC mamas in the Lyndonville and St. J area of Vermont. Dh and I have heard good things about Lyndon State College and even though its still just an idea at this point I just wanted to scope out the mama scene there.

Any crunchyish families? Kid friendly places and events? Any general info anyone wants to share would be much appreciated. TIA!

Bump!

Did you search this forum? There have been a few threads for that area in recent months. I notice them because my old friend Alisa lives in St. J now, with her 4yo g/g twins and b/g twin babies

yes I did do some searches and found some good info.

I see other people start new threads and sometimes think "why didn't they do a search first?" And this time I forgot.

I am still wondering if anyone has attended Lyndon State College with young children at home and what their experience was like.

My DH attends Lyndon State College. He is a Junior this year and we have two little ones DD 2 y/o and DD 6 months. He has been commuting the last two years but we will be moving up to that area next month. I guess we are a little crunchy, I'm a SAHM we farm, homebirth, cloth diaper, no tv etc.
As far as Lyndon State goes. His financial aid has been pretty good, no debt yet! He really likes some of his professors and some aren't so great. He finds many classes it is a discussion between him and the proffessor because very few traditional students participate... which frustrates him. We have taken our kids to a few of the college events and the president of the college was there and didn't mind at all even though we were the only ones there with kids.

Are you who I think you are?

I was going to post to this thread to say I know someone whose dh is a student at LSC, but I think you beat me to it!

To the OP, I've only been up here for about 9 months, but there does seem to be a decent amount of crunchish families around -- we haven't done a great job getting to know people though. There is a great story hour at the library in Lyndonville, and there is a new waldorf preschool/daycare in town as well. The coop in St. Jay is nice too.

Hey Mama's would you like to set up a play group in this area? I would love to get something started

Yes!Yes!Yes!

And I know I *keep* starting threads about how I'm going to initiate a get-together or playgroup, and obviously I never actually *do* it, so I'll keep my mouth shut this time, and let you pick the plans, zahirakids, and then I'll just work on showing up!

My kids are in pre-k everyday from about 12-3, so mornings would be better for me, if we're going to try a weekly thing. I'm not opposed to keeping them home from school once in a while, but so far, they are loving it so much, *they* might complain about missing.

I'm happy to host people at my house too, if you want to do a rotating location kind of thing, or if we are looking for the most central location for whoever ends up wanting in, I'm happy to offer my house, if that turns out to be central. I'm in South Wheelock, 6 miles from the Lyndonville exit (#23).

Lets really do this this time! PM me if you want help getting this organized.

My husbands bachelor's will be in "Natural Science". LSC is such a small college that they don't have very specific majors like "Botony" or "Biology" .

feel free to ask questions-

What is your husband interested in studying?

Hey Y'all....

zahirakids and I got together today, and planned a playgroup start-up!!!

She started a new thread about it, but I thought I'd just add it on here so you will get the email notifications.

Tuesdays 9-12 at zahirakids house in Barton. PM her, or me, for directions. We can talk about rotating the location once we see who is interested in coming and where everyone is coming from.

Bring a snack/lunch if you want. Come late or leave early if you need to, just show up
