St. Louis mamas - will we ever meet?

1513 Views 61 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  Pattyla
Ok mamas, I know we have tried and tried to get together, but it doesn't seem to happen. Would anyone like to plan something, maybe at a park now that the weather is nicer? I would just LOVE to meet everyone and I think a day at the park with some nice BBQ grills and places for the kids to play and the adults to chat sounds refreshing.

Anyone?

I would love to meet. I'm going to Belleville Eckerts this Saturday 4/15 for the Easter festivities. Anyone interested in joining me?
I just happened to notice this thread......

How about I just throw something out there and see what happens????

Bumping!

Me and Hugo would definitely come to this - especially since it looks like it might actually be sunny and warm on Tuesday. I'm sure I could rustle up three or four other parents I know. But, I want to meet some new parents!

People, lets just meet! It will be a nice day, we could have some food, and let our kids roll/crawl/walk/run/jump around.

I'm going to try... Its just hard for me to come that far when I have to be back here and have my oldest one ready to get on the kindergarten bus at 12:15pm.
Atom and I are in. Atom can't roll/crawl/walk/run/jump or any of that fancy stuff but he loves to lay there and watch. Now we just need some sunshine.

Any chance we could change this to De munn park in Clayton? At this point it looks like the OP, me, michael, Jenny and midwesternmama. Theres an API meetup there lator on in the morning, and, not to play scientist here, but I think the two groups might overlap

We've been wanting to check this park out anyway. I hear its really awesome for the kiddos, especially toddlers.

What time is the API meeting? I am still trying to work out a way for me to be able to go to this, I would have to either be there on time and leave by 11:30, or get there later and have my dad babysit my oldest for just a little while before school. Still trying though!
I **might** be able to make it to De Mun tomorrow morning. It depends on this crazy weather we've had lately. The bonus is that API is already planning to meet. Blackburn was a totally selfish move for me. It's so close to my house. Figured I might as well since no one else was making suggestions

Maybe tomorrow is too hectic? Running to meet the bus.... chance of showers..... general cold, blah weather lately..... haven't firmly decided on the location on the day before.

The summer is right around the corner. School will be out for us on June 1. We could make a solid rain-or-shine plan (or a rain date at least).

I'm going to throw out some thoughts on different parks:

De Mun -- love that it's fenced, not much for older kids (my 6 year old was very bored)

Blackburn -- pavilions (too expensive to rent but rarely used during the week), BBQs, good playground for multi-age, lots of grassy space, not super-central location for everyone??

Tower Grove -- love the playgrounds for 2 different age groups, wading pool coming soon, any pavilions/BBQs?? i don't know.

I guess I'm stuck in a park rut. Can anyone else continue the brainstorn?

If the weather is as forcast tomorrow, I doubt we will make it. As some here know, it takes a bit of motivation for us to make it out of the house, and cool and cloudy weather doesn't do it for me!

However, dd starts her 3.5 week hiatus (sp?) between nursery school and camp on Thurs. and we are going to be looking for things to do! Maybe later this week or next week?

I don't really have any other park suggestions, but we are going to Shaw park in Clayton tonight for the first time. I'll let y'all know.
Yeah, I don't think I'll be making it tomorrow. We live really far south in south county, so all of those place are about 25 minutes without traffic for us. I am babysitting a friend's little boy now and he and my son would be bored at a toddler park anyway. I sure wish the weather would get better!!

As for parks, we have some really nice ones down here in south county too! Also, there is one in Des Peres, right at 270 and manchester, that is REALLY great and has a toddler area and a bigger kid area that are right next to each other. Also has walking paths and a lake with ducks.

We like Tower grove park, but also love Laffette? Park! There are baby ducks and geese there now too! The kirkwood park is another of our favorites because it is very shady and has so many different things to do.

Lets hope this weather breaks, maybe we should just plan a playdate for after schools are out and go with that?

This weather is making me very, very grumpy
: We won;t be going either.

We should keep trying to do this. The weather HAS to get better soon. We saw the water thing at the pavillion at TG park on this weekend - the improvements are awesome! There are BBQ pits there too. So TG is my vote, since I can walk there. But we are always flexible.

I'm glad it got canceled for tomorrow. We have a Dr's appointment. I do want to do a meet up and since I am on the other side of Tower Grove from Lizafava I vote for that one.

But really we can meet people anywhere.

I'm in U City so Clayton is great for me. It is supposed to clear up on Wednesday!
Hi mamas, I'm in Chesterfield. I'd love to meet you all. Will there be a new place and time? I'm willing to go just about anywhere in the MO side of the metro STL area.

We'll be at the zoo tomorrow (Thursday) AM if the weather cooperates. If you happen to go, too, just look for the mama with 3 preschoolers, no stroller, and the youngest tummy-to-tummy in a black and purple onbuhimo

Ok, I am going to try one..

Next Friday, the 26th of May, Des Peres park at Manchester and 270 at 10:00am.

Anyone?
Nice choice, mama. I'd like to join you.

DH works right there at those office bldgs on the NE corner of Manchester and 270, and we've met him for lunch at that park many times. It's a lovely place, even with all the goose poop.
