our daughter is 8 1/2 months and showing signs that she's ready for solids. what time of day should we start with? how often during the day should we offer? how will her nursing change? she nurses 3-4 times a day plus bedtime and a couple of times at night.

I would offer solids no more than once a day at the beginning. I always aimed for morning or mid-day so that if there was any upset it was over before bedtime.

We also often only offered a couple of times a week in the beginning.

I would *offer* nursing more often throughout the day. That seems like few nursings for a baby that age.

This is all she'll take, but she nurses each time for about 45 min. and usually falls asleep still latched on. When she pops of I lay her down and she'll nap from 15min-1 1/2 hours.
