Has anyone given their baby tofu in the first months of solids. I have a seven month old, am wondering a.) whether to feed the baby tofu, and b.) how to prepare it (boiled and pureed?)

Thanks, mom to 7 mo son.

Thanks. I've read differing sources, one book says it is great...and the other sides with the high allergen risk. I'll err on the cautious side.

Thanks for input,
I have an 8 month old and am waiting a bit on tofu, maybe sometime between 9 and 12 months.....no need to purree it when you do offer though, I'd go with extra firm tofu cut up in cubes that baby can pick up and self feed. Even at 6 and 7 months my DD loved chunks of squash and bananas. If it weren't such a common allergen, I know she would absolutely LOVE chunks of tofu!!
We eat alot of tofu but I have heard not to give it raw because of how much it is handled in the process of making it.
Anyone know if this is true?

I have been a vegetarian for 20 years and have eaten a lot of tofu, but as of late am trying to not eat so much. An article came out in the New Yorker recently saying in France they suggest NO SOY until 3. I would research it before feeding it regularly to your baby, the estrogen is not healthy, and it is hard to digest the proteins with soy....I still love my soy milk, but have cut back on other soy products. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this topic.....I wont feed my child meat, so it was kinda a bummer for me.
