I have a new machine and when I try to sew the straight stitch my stiches come out slanted. WHY??? It's driving me bonkers. Anyone???

How ****** is ******? If you use a ballpoint knit needle on woven fabric, you can get stitches that are not in a straight line as the threads deflect the needle. A sharp needle might fix this for you.

Thank you! I would have NEVER thought of that. I have been messing with every dial on the dang thing.

Hmm... not totally ****** like / but about exactly in between / and |...

I have no idea what kind of needle, it's whatever came with the machine.

I have been using woven fabrics though...

Needles are very important. Not only do you need the right needle for the job, but they need to be replaced fairly often. This may seem obvious to you. If so, forgive me. It's something I wasn't always aware of.

No, I really didn't know that. Well, I guess I did but I didn't give it much thought...

. I will change out the needle and see what happens.
