Sleep seems to be very hit or miss, one day I sleep great - 11 hours, the next (aka last night) I can't fall asleep until 2:30am and then awake at 5:30, can't get back to sleep and here I am.

I have checked my own cervix and I can still feel it there long and closed. We've been trying everything to get labor started, but all I get is a bunch of BH contractions and more exhausted. So its looking more and more like the baby is going to be born Tue by c/section. At this point I'm feeling much better about this and I'm just working on trying to make this birth the best I can.

I know this will mean nothing...because I cringed myself everytime it was said to me...but hang in there and truly try to keep your mental space clear and open for the positive that IS about to happen. I have been thinking about you mamas ALOT the last few days and I had to pop in and see how everyone is doing....which you are doing better than I would be at this point. I sometimes wish I had one more day to savor the little things I experienced with her on the inside but its a whole new world on this side now (read:sore nipples, pure sleep deprivation, emotional rollercoaster, et.all) but the wait is worth it albeit I can't imagine how miserable and fedup you mamas are at this point. You are in my thoughts and prayers and I hope today brings you some relief.

Cristina (debtsmommy)~how on earth do I go about finding someone to come to my home and help me with a breastfeeding problem? Caira isn't latching on well in these last few days (she has been a lil jaundiced) and everything I can think of to try isnt working which has left me SORE (sore doesn't even begin to cut it), frustrated and fearful of the next feeding....it shouldnt be this way but I don't know what to do and I don't know where to find help in my area but there is a significant LLL presence in my town (louisville).

I'll answer to try to help
. latch seems to be your problem.... if she is latching well, you won;t be sore. Here a re some ideas.... try "aiming" your nipple toward the roof of her mouth, not her throat.. this will help her to get a mouthful of the underside of yoru breats tissue and land your nipple toward the back of her mouth (where her gums can't cause trauma). Some moms fine that leaning forward a bit helps to give baby more to grasp onto, some find that compressing their breast tissue behind the aerola to make your breast shape match baby's mouth shape (nipple sandwich) helps with latch on. Saying "OPEN" to her may help to get her to open wider. Hvae your dh or someone look when she is latched and make sure her top and bottom lips are flanged out.. if not, have him flip the lip out.

For healing, nurse on the least sore side 1st, whne she is hungriest. Lanolin, as well as expressed bm rubbed onto yoru nipples and let air dry can help healing too. Some mons find that taking an advil 15-30 minutes before nursing helps while you are healing.

As far as finding an LC, you can check the LLL website for a group in your area www.lalecheleague.org. Your local hospital may have LC referrals as well as a peditrician.

HTH and good luck! hang in there!

Hey Marsupial! Here is a link to LLL of Kentucky (only Louiville I know of!) http://www.lllofky.org/groups.html check them out. (If I am wrong about the states, let me know) Not all LLL leaders will do home visits but many do. I would prefer Moms to come to me, so that may be an option as well. If that won't work, ask for an IBCLC refferal from your LLL. She should have resources. Hold Strong! This too shall pass.
Be deligent with latch & flanged lips. Use Soothies or Lansinoh. Do not be afraid to take pain meds for sore nipples (short term, like getting through a weekend.)
Let me know how it goes. Keep me posted.

Well I am still pregnant, but have strong faith. Baby is moving & groving & her NST went well with the midwife yesterday. Had a few surges but nothing to write home about.

What shall we do today?? (have a baby!) Finish the laundry I guess. I may go out to my friends home that has a huge garden & get some fresh veggies. We shall see, I am a bit crampy today but it would probably be good to be outside for awhile. I just wish she was closer than a 30 min drive.

I finished knitting my 3rd wool soaker for the baby. It is so cute. I even dyed the yarn myself. DH has had a head cold since friday. I hope he starts feeling better soon. I was taking it as a sign that this baby would come as he was sick when the 1st 2 were born, but nothing yet. Not sure if I shared with you all, but yesterday based on my "conception" dates, I am only 5 days past 40 weeks. That was reasuring, for me anyway.

Have a great sunday!! Let the Labor Fest begin!!!
I am still here too!

Prodromal labor goes on and on and on... at least it got me to 4cm...maybe next time my midwife checks I will be like 7 or something... that would be cool... every DAY I think I am going into hard labor and I never do... this morning I had pretty painful contractions coming about every 10 minutes... they seem to be fizzling out though... not the pain, but they are farther apart

Oh well the bright side is at least all these contractions (2 weeks worth my goodness) have actually done SOMETHING... I just need to kick it into high gear!!

Still waiting though...on my "baby who cried wolf" ... I swear she will be crowning before I actually believe it is true labor :LOL

*sigh*

I'm still here too. I can't believe all of you ladies are still here hanging out with me!!! I have to say that I am very relieved to know that I am not the only one. It just is such a bummer that we all have to hang out under these frustrating circumstances. Come on surges!!! Come on babies!!!

I am still here too. I have been thinking about the black and blue cohosh. I am so wanting to have this baby. it is getting SO uncomfortable. It is hot here...85 with super humidity. I feel like I am going to explode, as my belly is so big. I am crabby and not being all that nice to anyone.Friday night I felt the baby move way lower. I could feel my bones sepertaing. Still no mucous plug
Oh how I wish I was holding our baby in my arms.

Yesterday was a going away party for Tracey. Jerren didn't show up until very late, so all the time before she got there I kept wondering if mayu be it meant you were having a baby and she was with you. guess not. but hope your baby will make its appearance real soon!
