And Im 17wks 4days today. Anyone else???

This is so frustrating
: I keep worrying something is wrong - but the HB was fine at 16wks, so I shouldn't be worried right??? The midwife said I'll probably start feeling something around my ultrasound appt which is next week...but so many of you have felt it so much sooner.

I also just don't feel big, at all.

I am 17 wks and have also not felt any movement. My mW said the same...by the next appt. I am not going to worry until 22 weeks. Since this is our first pregnancy, I think it is common not to feel the baby early. Also from other posts, it sounds like the placenta could be blocking kicks if it is positioned anterior. I think the first movements feel like flutters? How to distinguish this from gas or the nagging pains of constipation, I have no idea. Anyway, don't worry... all is cool.

zen try not to worry. i know it's hard. just because you don't feel big and haven't felt movement doesn't mean anything is wrong. 18 weeks is the average when movements start being felt. also everyone carries their baby's differently.

I understand how you feel- I couldn't feel ds move until I was 24 weeks pregnant!!! It was such a looooong wait! But it will happen and then you'll have the rest of your pregnancy to feel him/her moving daily, which you will just love!

Hi!

I did not feel anything definite yet, and I'm 18 weeks today.
At my appointment, MW said it can be anytime from now (that app. was a week ago) and in the next 3-4 weeks.
So I'm really not worries, we heard the heart beat, all is great.

I can't wait, I want to experience it, but I'm not worrying about it.

Take care!

I was just about to post this thread. I've even kinda stopped reading on here because I'm beginning to feel 'less pregnant' than most of the other ga's on here.

It's so comforting to hear that there are others in the same boat.

It's your first baby, which almost always seem to mean it takes longer to feel the baby. Honestly you probably ARE feeling your baby but don't realize it yet, the baby is still itty bitty and the movements are very easy to miss at this point if you don't know exactly what it is you're supposed to feel. I felt my first around 18-19 weeks, IIRC. 2nd was around 15 weeks, this one around 14. It's just a matter of knowing what you're feeling.

Your placenta may also be padding some of that movement, if it's anterior. It's really hard to feel a tiny baby kicking through a big thick pillow, kwim?

I agree. I have the same due date as you and while I am feeling little flutters and pokes every once in a great while, if it was my first baby I bet I wouldn't even recognize them for baby movement. BUT, even if you are SURE SURE SURE that you're not feeling anything, you shouldn't worry at all. My OB was telling me at my 16 week appointment that I probably wouldn't feel anything for another month or so and this is my 2nd baby.

I am 17 weeks and 4 days too (yay EDD buddies!)and just the past three days I have felt movement that I know for sure is the baby. I felt things about a week before that, but I could never be sure it wasn't just gas. I had my MW appt yesterday and she was a little surprised that I could feel movement already, she said lots of mamas don't feel it till closer to 20 weeks.

And for me it hasn't been "flutters" (or I don't recognize those), but this week I have suddenly been feeling pokes. . .like someone lightly prodding you with their index finger but on the inside. It happens two or three times a day and I will feel about 3-5 pokes in the space of 10-20 min I would say. Its nothing huge feeling, but its unmistakably not gas!

Just thought I'd share in case you were curious like I was. I am sure everyone feels it a bit differently. Maybe you have a mellow babe in there! And I'm sure you will feel it soon. . .I had many days of "is that something?".

Oh and I don't feel "big" either. Can't wear my old pants anymore, but my belly is still in the "is she just gaining a little weight" phase.

I've been thinking this lately -- that the reason I know I've been feeling the baby is because the sensations are the same as they were with my son. BUT, they are so faint and light that I wouldn't notice them if I didn't recognize them, and if I wasn't paying close attention. Also, sometimes it's just once or twice a day. I could easily miss them!

I'm 19wks with my 4th and I only feel the odd movement here or there - and honestly? If I didn't recognize the feeling from before I'd wonder - and DO wonder sometimes!!

So yep - you're not alone!

Yep, you're definately not alone! I'm feeling this baby way less than I did with my other 3- I'm sure an anterior placenta is to blame. 18ish weeks is still in the very normal range for no discernable fetal movement. Hang in there!

:18wks 2days...and still.

NADA!

urgh. this is so frustrating not to feel anything. i'm not very big - i figured without much padding i'd be feeling movement by now. i am becoming more convinced i must have this 'anterior placenta' dealio.

Anyone else still not felt anything?

Yep, and we're due the same day (give or take). I felt some suspected flutters almost two weeks ago , then nothing, making me second guess that it was actually the baby. I mentioned to my husband yesterday that I haven't felt the baby in over a week, and he got concerned, so to make him feel better I went to my midwife's and got the doppler and found the little bugger. Still low and left, right where he/she has been the whole time. Heart thumping away.

I'm not sure why I'm not feeling more...this is my third, I'm skinny, my placenta WAS rather low (next to my cervix), not anterior (I suppose it could have moved?). So who knows? A less active babe I guess?

With ds, I didn't feel movement until 20-21 weeks. It was so hard waiting. With dd, I felt it earlier - 15ish weeks, but I knew what I was looking for.

With this one, I started feeling movements consistently about 1.5 weeks ago - before that it felt more like gas than flutters, IYKWIM. I'll be 20 weeks on Wednesday and SAW movement on my belly last night as I was laying in bed (hello Alien!).

Nope, me neither. Thing is, I am big. Way bigger than I thought I would be. I suspect it is b/c I have a small torso and am carrying all in front and high. But no movement. I don't even feel these supposed flutters everyone is talking about. Every night I sit quietly to feel, but nothing. Bummer.

I am 19 weeks and one day and still nothing! except I feel sharp pains...hope that isn't bad! Going in for a long overdue appointment today and hoping all is well. I would like an occasional kick, right now all i feel is occasional pain. I don't hear anyone else mentioning pain though!? Sure hope that is normal. Not cramping just stabbing jabbing pain. I jokingly said to my husband that the child might be a biter and not a kicker...almost feels like the baby is biting!

Anyone else feel not so enjoyable pinching??

Are the pains primarily along the bottom and sides of your abdomen? If so, it's like stretching pains, round ligament. It's disconcerting, but normal. I remember feeling like something was "catching" when I would move, especially going from sitting to standing.

Hope your appt goes well today!!!
