what gives babies stinky belly buttons? i try to clean DD's, but i don't want to mess with it too much cause it may still be sensitive from her lotus birth. she is 2 1/2 months. what do you all think?

Either an infection or it is dirty. If it is red and hot around the umbilicus, it may be an infection and you prob. want to have it looked at by a doc.

I know is seems wiggy cleaning in and around there but that is what you really have to do to get it clean. You have to go deep where the shiny white part is...there is probably goopy old blood that is causeing the smell. (Sorry but that is what it is). You don't have to use alch., just some water and if you want natural soap...at least use some soap the first time you really give it a good clean.

I am sending you brave-mama vibes for an easy clean.
