Help, my pocket dipes and AIOs stink! I was just now folding laundry and they reek! Like Calgon and stinky pee combined. I have mostly Happy Heinys and a few FMBG AIOs. Last night I washed them in my usual cold wash with a tsp baking soda and a tsp Basic L, followed by a hot wash with a cap of Sport wash and extra rinse. The previous time, I had a huge load so I did 3 washes: cold with baking soda, hot with 1 Tbsp Tide HE, hot with 1/4 c Calgon.
It seems that only the PUL and fleece dipes and fleece topped hemp doublers stink. My other hemp seems ok, at least dry it does. And with the HHs, the whole dipe smells, not just the fleece. I haven't had any repelling fleece problems.
I guess I could do another hot wash or two with no soap or anything. But I thought that sport wash would get rid of at least the Calgon scent?
Any suggestions other than wash, wash, wash?!

You are adding too much into your wash. The calgon is a water softner and so is the baking soda.

I can't say for sure but the 2 could be re-acting to each other.

Also, if you have soft water you are going to create a whole seperate situation just by using the baking soda.
My advice, strip the diapers, if you have soft water stop using the calgon/baking soda, if you have hard water choose 1 to use. Then go from there.

I also found that for us, Sportwash did not cut it and also left a metalic smell on my diapers.
