Hmm, that's a really interesting question. I'll dig around and see if I can find anything online, but my gut reaction (if you'll pardon the pun) is that the colostrum-rich milk in the first couple of weeks, which is intended to move the meconium out of the newborn, is contributing to the runny stools.

That's just my guess....off to research! If I find anything online I'll post it.
