story/puppet ideas

I'm trying to gather a list of story time ideas for puppet shows during circle time. ds is 2 1/2 so he doesn't have the longest attention span. so far I've thought of
-ba ba black sheep
-mary had a little lamb
-this old man
-this cute story we know about a mushroom in the rain
what else can you suggest?
also, I'm making a bunch of puppets to use for story time. what characters should I make. I want to have some pretty generic figures so that I can do almost any story with them.
-i've already made a black sheep
-i plan to make a man, a woman, a boy and a girl
what else would be good?
does anyone have links to some needle felted puppets/dolls for inspiration? thanks
