I've been thinking about strategy and tactics over the last few days. What works, what doesn't. How do we effectively persuade others to nurse their own children? How can we get people to think differently about lactation? Formula companies have entire marketing departments devoted to strategy and tactics. If we are haphazard or disorganized, or worse, then we can be an asset to them and undermine our own cause.

What works:

The soft sell (formula companies are the master of this.)
Artlessness:
Honesty and truthfullness
Defenselessness (When pushed, respond with the "five whys" technique instead of pushing back.)
What doesn't

Offensiveness and insulting different points of view. (Have YOU ever persuaded someone hostile to nursing by insulting them? Really?)
Marginalization (One can nurse without subscribing to any other component of NFL or AP.)

Any more?
