Hi All,<br><br>
We are currently moving to a rural area and on the property was a lovely (or so I thought) cat - obviously we no nothing about this cat's history. We yesterday the cat bit my 21/2 year old daughter. The wound itself was more of a scrap from the cat's teeth though it did draw a little blood. I washed and bandaged the area and there is no sign of any infection.<br>
We called animal control and are having the cat tested for rabies right now (doubtful but as a precaution) my question is - should my unvac'd DD get a Tetanus shot. My DH is adamant that she should get this anyway as we are moving to the country and went ahead and made an appt for today.<br><br>
I want to line up my ducks so I can challenge the doc and DH if needed. Any advice would be welcome.<br><br>

Tetnus is a danger if get a deep wound that doesn't bleed and oxygen can't get to......AND if you're old or immuno compromised.<br><br><br>
Also, the incubation period for tetnus is shorter than it takes the shot to work....so if you're really going to get tetnus from an injury it's allready too late to get the vax.
