My mom just bought me a Peg Perego 2005 Venezia that was on sale, and when I got it I found that the hood zipper broke off when I tried to tuck it out of sight. When I checked online I found a host of bad reviews about it, specifically on the durability factor. I'm shipping it back and I'm kind of bummed as it's one of the few strollers that has reversible handles.

So....here I am, ISO a durable stroller with reversible handles. This is an important feature for me as I'd like to be able to have ds face to face when needed.

Any suggestions? C'mon, I'm sure more of you have strollers than may care to admit!

I have one, GMIL gave it to us...when I get around to using it for the first time I'll let you know how I like it

But then I've been blessed with a very small bean of a DD (healthy but tiny and very light) so we haven't had stroller needs.

I've always liked simple umbrella strollers though when caring for other people's kids. It's too hard to handle both a baby and complicated stroller at the same time.

At least 6 months or so, for being able to sit up well without getting all scrunched up in it and risking breathing trouble. Closer to a year for us, for her feet to touch the footrest and so not dangle and leave marks on the backs of her legs.

Reversible handles is one of those features that I LOVE on strollers but didn't come in the price range we were looking at (~$100). So, we bought a small, light weight stroller (Graco Mosaic I think is the name) and just plop in the bucket car seat (a Britax Companion).

Ds really does like being able to see and talk with me. The stroller lays pretty flat (though not absolutely) and we've felt comfortable using it with Ds since he was fairly small (3mo perhaps) w/out the bucket too.

Oy... bugaboos and the stokke xplory are in the $500+ range! Any other cheaper ideas? Or I guess the reversible handle thing is one of those yuppie features that you've gotta shell out major bucks for?

We have a Peg Perego A3 (could only find it online ... I think we got it at Albee Baby). The handle doesn't reverse, but you can reconfigure the seating area to make it into a more traditional baby buggy type stroller ... almost like a little bassinet. So if your babe is not sitting up yet, you can lay them down in there and they'll be facing you. But you wouldn't be able to have them sitting up and facing you at the same time, kwim?

Anyway, we don't use the stroller a whole lot (we used the sling when she was little and now I love love LOVE our Ergo!), but I've been pretty happy with it so far. I didn't really care about the bassinet configuration because dd was too old for that when we got it anyway. I really went with the A3 because it has a hood that goes all the way down to protect babe from the sun when it's low in the sky. And also because it has a large, ACCESSIBLE basket. It was the only stroller I found with all of these features. Other strollers with big baskets could only be reached from the front (strollers that collapse "umbrella-style" have supports in the back that block access to the basket). And strollers with good access from the back had teeny baskets. At least of all the ones I looked at.

It wasn't super cheap, but definitely less than $500. Maybe in the $300 range?

Good luck!

I LOVE it and so does she. We spend a lot of time out of the house and I just could not carry her alllllll the time but I knew she'd be happier if we could chat and see each other. This one does not have features like cup holders, you can't easily hang your bag on it, it doesn't have enough storage to go on a four day hike BUT she faces me (or away, but we haven't done that), it has a bassinette attacment for small babies (never used it), and she can sit up pretty straight. She seems to really like the more structured and upright seat, but you can tilt it back if the baby falls asleep.
