I got a Heavenly Hiney's AIO in my fluffy mail yesterday and I washed it while DS was napping so he could wear it to bed last night. I changed him this morning and the smell of ammonia hit me like a brick!

I know that I don't wash anything with ammonia so it had to be the person I bought it from. It's a pocket diaper if that helps. Any ideas of how to get rid of this horrible smell?

I wish I had some great advice to give
We're still novices. I was adviced to boil my hemp prefolds to get rid of the ammonia smell (haven't gotten around to it yet) but I'm not sure what to do with an AIO b/c of the snaps? and the PUL might not be able to withstand boiling.

Hey there!

I would guess for it have detergent build-up.
I would recommend a strip wash. ( I just posted instructions for one over at SN, but here it is here too

Here are stripping instructions from our very own diaper Hyena-stripping instructions are about mid way down, but read the whole thing for prevention

Diaper stripping

It probably wouldn't hurt to do all your diapers, as build up is pretty common over time, if you are using too much detergent.
I used to use about 1/2 capful-now I only use about 2 tablespoons and my dipes have never been cleaner!
