Are you getting bubbles when you wash them in the washing machine? Maybe there is some soap stuck in there. I would wash them with no detergent and make sure there are no bubbles in the water. Are they leaking out the leg? Is the insert getting wet? How many times has the insert been washed? It takes like 6+ good washings and dries on hot for hemp or unbleahed CPF's to get to their best absorbancy.

By the way, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your childrens names!! If our son was a girl he was going to be Taryn Olivia.

Thanks Desiree! The pee is just running out the leg hole leaving the insert dry. I stuff with an infant prefold that has been washed a ton. I guess it must be build up. I will try the dishwashing liquid again and rinsing, rinsing, rinsing.

Found this about stripping dipes at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/kfegelman/fleece.html

"This time I followed the advice of a lot of other MDC moms and used Sportswash (non-scented detergent found in Walmart's hunting section). I soaked the pocket dipes in Sportwash and hot water, then washed them in hot over and over again until there weren't any suds in the water. This took literally 6 washes. Luckily, I only had my pocket diapers in the washer, so it was a small load. Now the stink is gone, and they don't leak anymore. Water still beads up on the fleece if it's just poured on, but like I said, they work fine, so that is the end of my saga for now. "

Lisa, do you have hard water????? If so, get some Calgon (either powder or liquid) and use that in the wash to help strip it. It is on the laundry aisle.

I ordered a hard water testing kit for free from Culligan (one of hte great mama's here gave the link) and it showed my water is moderately hard. makes sense b/c I have shots on dishes, shower buildup, squeaky skin after showering, etc.

Good luck!

I know this will sound wild, but I loved Calgon because we have hard water. But, I noticed after using it for a little while that our fleece started repelling. I stopped using it and did a few washes without it.. no more repelling. Used it in a load last week just to "test".. and sure enough.. our fleece repelled. I don't have any clue as to why or how calgon would make fleece repel, but thought I'd share my experience.
